You are not addressing Apple by posting in these forums as this is a user to user forum. If you wish to address Apple with the issue then give them a call on 1300 321 456.
Other then that if the iPhone will not be serviced by the stores in the US go back to the Apple Store in Melbourne and ask to speak with the manager. Inform them of the issue and see do anything to help you out in terms of getting to the bottom of where the new stamps came from.
Yes they are all Apple Stores but the iPhones are not all the same models. Try one of the options above you can only do your best to try and get the issue resolved.

The phone was never turned on or activated yet there are alternations to the device and you say that you purchased from an actual Apple retail store? I'm sorry but I find that extremely unlikely. Did you buy it with a carrier contract or for full retail value?
