if you pull the plug and wait 40 sec and connect it again and it never get passed black screen

and you verify this using more then 1 tv

then I would say the appletv is dead

I had a bad cable so now I have the apple logo and no matter how long i wait or how I tried to restart it (power cable or remote) its still there.  Is there a specific way to restore by plugging into my mac? I tried the usb port on the back and tried it with and without the power cable plugged in but its not recognized by itunes.
