Q: Lost my import settings pull down and menu

I've been having problems running Aperture....slow speed, not seeing previews...etc...

I was told to repair library data base by holding the opt+comm keys when opening Aperture.

I did a repair and was still having issues so I did a rebuild as a last resort.

Now when I try to import from my memory card I no longer have an import settings pull down or menu....essentially I cant import!

Any suggestions?

MacBook, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

When menu items are missing it might be a problem of corrupted preferences files or a system wide problem.

As a test: Run Aperture from a different user account, for example the Guest account. Is the "Import" manual there?

    • If all menues are in a different user account, delete your User Preferences, as described in Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics (the paragraph  "Delete the user preferences"). Log off and on again after doing that.
    • If the problem occurs in all accounts, reinstall Aperture.
    • And if that stll does not help, post back and tell us more - have you installed anything lately? Any other applications behaving strangely? Have you done any maintainance, cleaning running cleaner applications?

Followed your advise , opened as guest and the menu was there.  I deleted user preferences and reopened Aperture.

    Perfect!!
