Q: Why does My Macbook Pro (2012) Keep Freezing Constantly?

So i got a macbook pro in mid 2012 i think around april and i got mountain lion free as a part of the package so i upgraded to that. But the macbook pro laptop keeps constantly freezing i don't know why especially when reopening the lid it just starts playin games for few mins. The OSx also freezes sometimes while working for ex in microsoft office stuff like powerpoint. I tried one of the solutions that is to disable put harddisk to sleep but that didn't help. I also tried using disk utility to repair disk permissions but that didnt help either. Then I used Onyx it made it faster but still didn't really resolve the freezing problem Is it because I go to java and flash chat rooms ? Does macbook not handle that properly? Please help me out I want to really stop this issue!

Sorry I didn't understand what you meant by that did u ask me whether i tried booting up apple hardware test in safe mode? I already did hardware test and it detected no problems but If you are asking to bootup using the system in safe mode I don't know how to do that please guide me.

See the link on Safe Mode I provided.

Boot into Safe mode and see how the system works. It will be slightly sluggish, and some things just don't work, but if you don't get any freezes, you've got third-party software causing your problems.

Time Machine must be turned on for it to back up. If you've never turned it on, you don't have any backups.

I would advise backing up the system as soon as possible. If your problems are related to hard disk failing, you will soon loose all of your data.

This is a software problem. Not a hardware problem.

Download a little app Etrecheck. It is on www.etresoft.com.

Run it and post the list here.

The freezes mainly happen when shutting down the lid and reopening it. So i should test the same in safe mode? If this doesn't resolve issue i was suggested to recover mountain lion but this system came with lion and i had to get mountain lion as free update from apple store so which version will it go back to ? Will i loose my files?

Reinstalling from Recovery should not affect your files, however this is the real world and something may go wrong. Without a backup you may lose your files.

Uninstall TrendMicro. AV software is the number 1 cause of problems on a Mac. They really don't provide any useful services and cause many problems.

However, that may not be the cause of your problem.

These could also be problems, but I doubt it:

              uTorrent

              Sony Ericsson Bridge Helper

              DuckCapture

              Citrix ShareFile Sync

Of course, running a Torrent probably isn't the safest way to compute.

Standard Recovery will reinstall the current OS.

Internet Recovery will reinstall the original shipping OS.

    There are no disks.
