When i connect my shuffle its flashes orange a few times whilst it connrcts to my computer but then stops.  I have read similar questions here and followed those instructions.  Also restored to factory settings. no change.  Its 4 years old.  Do i just buy a new one?

iPod shuffle (2nd generation, Late 2008), Windows 7

When you say it "stops," does that mean it stops flashing but the light stays on?  Or is the light no longer on after it stops flashing?

What indicates to you that the shuffle is "not fully charging"?

When connected to the computer, after the light stops flashing and it goes out, does the shuffle still appear in iTunes (so you can add and remove songs)?

It's possible that the USB port is not providing sufficient power.  If you have not already, shut down (power off) the computer, and start it back up.  If you use a USB hub, try a direct connection to the computer.  If there are other USB devices connected, try disconnecting them (except for standard keyboard and mouse if normally used) and only connect the shuffle.

If you happen to have a USB power adapter (that plugs into the wall outlet), try that to see if it makes any difference.

Since this is an older 2nd gen shuffle, it could be a battery (or charging) issue.  One more thing you can try is to do a Restore on the shuffle in iTunes.  The Restore button is on the shuffle's Settings screen in iTunes.  If that does not help, the cause is likely to be related to hardware.
