Q: Power Mac Ram?

Hello,

I have ordered RAM for the Power mac g5, I put it in, it worked. I have just fixed my power mac g5 from some chronic problem that has been going on for a week. Now it is giving me 3 flashes (I believe it means incorrect RAM installed-?).

Any help appreciated,

What is the 2z691-****-A number on the Install Disc, sound like a Machine specific or Intel only Install Disc.

Hmmm, scant info on that, but it should be OK from my notes...

Leopard 10.5.1 I believe it is the Family Pack retail disk, the product number is: 2Z691-6178-A.

Seems the SATA Scorpios are all SATA 3Gb/s drives, is it a 2.5" or 3.5" drive?

I think you're going to need a 3.5" drive & if WD 3.0 Gb/s, a jumper on Pins 5&6 to slow it to G5 SATA speeds.

i don't believe it has jumpers. Only 4 pins to the right of the sata connector
