Q: Will not start. Multi-coloured patterned frozen screen.

Sometimes there is a very fast fan noise, too. Turning on and off many times sometimes works, then the computer runs as normal for several hours before freezing again. Verify Disc says it's OK but there is no Repair Disc option.

I have tried unplugging the machine for a few minutes, too.

 

This is an old (not Intel) Mac pro desktop running 10.5.8.

 

Any advice appreciated!
