You've searched your Mac for them and checked the Trash ? If it was an iTunes purchased album then depending upon what country that you are in, and if it is still in the store, you might be able to re-download it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page :

If music shows as an option there (it doesn't in all countries), then is that album shown ? If it is then it might have 'downloaded' against it as opposed to the cloud symbol, in which case the album from your library (where you are getting the exclamation marks) and it should then change to the cloud symbol for re-downloading. If it doesn't show in Purchased but other music does and the album is still in the store then check to see if it's hidden : hiding and unhiding.

If you can't re-download music and don't have a copy of it in your backup of your library and it's still in the store then you could try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

You don't have a copy of it on a backup drive or an an iOS device that you could copy it back from ? Re-downloading isn't available in all European countries. If you know which account that you bought it with then you could see if iTunes Support will allow you to re-download it.

Is that album available in the country's store where you now live ?

And are you in a country where re-downloading of music is possible ?

This page lists what can be re-download where : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085

You could try contacting iTunes Support and see if it can be restored to your purchased list, or try asking for a redownload, as you are still in a country where music can be redownloaded and that album is in your store
