Trouble getting online

I run my MacBook Pro on OSX 10.7.5 (Lion). My Safari web browser opens, but will not allow me to open links. More specifically, the blue progress bar progresses about 1/3 the way across the url bar before stopping. How can I restore full functionality?

    Sounds like a corrupted cache file in your user account.


    You can create another user account to confirm if that's the problem.


    Use Safari's reset ability and then try running through these possible fixes to narrow down where it's occuring.
