Q: Final Cut Pro X share fails with QuickTime Error -50

Hello!

I'm facing a very annoying issue when trying to share my project from Final Cut Pro X. It used to work perfectly fine but now I'm getting consistently "QuickTime Error -50" after FCPX exported about 10% of my project. This can be reproduced with other project as well - one time I was able to export by restarting my machine but not anymore.

My configuration is a Mac Pro early 2008 with a ATI Radeon 5770. The only recent change I did to my config was to upgrade my old graphic cards to the Radeon 5770: do you think this can be the cause of this error?

Thanks for any help,

Jean

Mac Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3), Radeon HD 5770

Switch off background rendering. Trash render files. Don't render. Export.

That's weird, your suggestion didn't work immediately. However, after copying the project within Final Cut Pro into another project it worked fine.

There are many things that can be become corrupted at some point in the process –  render files, projects, events included.

I had the same problem. It turned it was caused by the latest Sony XAVC/XDCAM plugin (PDZK-LT2). Once I removed the following folder all the share functions where working again:

    Library > Application Support > ProApps > MIO > RADPlugins > XDCAMFormat.RADPlug

I've read more treads about this problem where the solution was to remove a conflicting plugin (not only the Sony plugin).

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

I have the same problem and tried both solutions. But same things happened.

    I didn't have the Sony XAVC/XDCAM plugin. But I removed all "/Library/Application Support/ProApps/Internal Plug-Ins" Directories without success.

Do you have any other instructions ?

I am also expriencing the same error. Tried every solution listed so far:

    1. Switch off background rendering. Trash render files. Don't render. Export.

    2. copying the project within Final Cut Pro into another project

    3. remove the following folder: Library > Application Support > ProApps > MIO > RADPlugins > XDCAMFormat.RADPlug

Nothing worked. I try to export to Vimeo, YouTube, and master. All error right at 9%

    What's going on?

What are the details of the media, video and audio, and what are the project properties? What computer is this, complete specs? What drives hold the media? What drive are you exporting to?

I'd suggest taking the system to an Apple store or an Apple service technician.

There may be some corrupt clip or render files. Did you delete render files, and turn off background render?

Also, just to make sure, does an export to a master file work?

I have the same issue to both  my Mac Pro and Macbook pro after I update OS to Mavericks, lucky I back up my old OS 10.7 , I replace the HD which have OS 10.7 back into my Mac Pro it works fine ...no error. So my conclusion is issue with Mavericks. I am going to stay away from Mavericks for now. I hope apple look into this soon.

It has nothing to do with Mavericks.  I had this problem with 10.7 and still have it 10.8.  It's not every project that has the problem, and some projects will share as one type and not the other.  It only started happeneing with FCP updated to 10.0.8 and beyond for me.

It's got to be Mavericks.  I had zero issues before and now can't export hardly anything anymore.  No problems before Mavericks, lots of problems after.  I have two Macbook Pros and BOTH suddenly started doing this.  Coincidence?  It's Mavericks causing my issue for sure.
