Cant unlock iPhone 3?

I recently purchased a refurbished iPhone from Gamestop and a Net10 sim card and 1 month with Net10. The cashier at the store told me that set up part of it and that when I get home all I have to do is plug it into a computer with iTunes and everything will be set.

 

When I plug it into iTunes I get a message saying

"The SIM cad inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported. The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information."

 

I contacted Apple and they told me to contact my carrier, Net10. Net10 told me over phone that my phone appeared unlocked and ready with the SIM activated.

 

What do I do?

    No matter what Net 10 said, the phone is not unlocked. You should take it back to Game Stop, make them give you an unlocked phone, and test it before leaving the store.

    Ah, well that means that you must connect the phone to a computer with the latest version of iTunes installed and Restore the phone using iTunes.
