Q: Server Connections Interrupted when starting Aperture

Does Aperture access anything on a server? Is your Aperture library hosted on a server or a Time Capsule?

What version of Aperture and OSX?

Hold down (and continue holding) the Option Key while clicking to launch Aperture.  Does it allow you to see the dialogue for choosing between libraries or creating a new one?

OK, now if you go back to simply clicking to launch, will it now open?

Glad it got sorted.  Probably had lost the path to the Library, and nothing to do with the Library, per se.

I assume you can open it via the Option Key while clicking the Aperture Icon?  But very odd.

What type of drive is in this iMac?  A straight SATA, SSD or hybrid?

Problem returned after computer was shut down and started up again.

That looks like Aperture cannot write its preferences file or its caches.

Have you tried to remove Aperture's preferences from the user library?

• Remove the Aperture's user preferences from the User Library as described here:

Note:Your User Library is hidden by default in 10.7.x or later - to open it in a Finder window use the "Go" menu from the Finder's main menu bar.

• Quit Aperture, if it is running. Log off and on again.
• Open the user library by using the Finder's "Go > Go to Folder" menu and hold down the options-key, until "Library" appears in the drop down menu. Select it.
• In the widow that will open, scroll down to "Preferences"
• From the "Preferences" folder  remove "com.apple.Aperture.plist".

Then try to launch Aperture again.

But deleting the "Preferences" file will cause Aperture to forget the preferences settings. Be prepared to have to reset all options you set using the Aperture Preferences panel.

When you hold down the Option key, and click to launch Aperture, is the primary library listed as the default?
