I have an early 2006 Intel Core Duo 17: 1.83GHx iMac. I need to do a clean install and no longer have the original discs. I have read that I will need 10.4.4 or higher.

The retail copies I am finding on eBay just state 10.4. How can I be sure to get the correct version for Intel based machines?

thanks,

Rob

    Hi Rob,

I believe the Black Retail 10.4 Discs are PPC Mac only, except for one later 10.4 Server edition was "Universal".

You can call Apple with your Serial# handy & see if they have Original replacement Discs, or ask for a Leopard 10.5 Retail Disc. Or SL10.6 Disc.

    X 10.4.4 (8G1165)X 10.6.8*

They charged me $17 and are sending me a discs for Tiger "International" Edition that will boot into an Intel Machine.

    This is great to read.

    What country are you in?

    What number did you call?

Folks in these discussions are always looking Tiger.

All well that ends well.  Apple went the extra mile in my opinion.
