EDIT: Wrong thread. But I don't know of any fixes for this issue, besides using "Search". I never browse by artist because I find it too tedious, browsing by Purchase or name is much easier for me, but I have noticed other little issues like this one making the experience a disconvinence instead of advancement.

Uh, this has nothing to do with AirDrop. Just the Music app. I think you may have replied in the wrong thread.

It's not random. The albums are sorted by year. The huge problem is that the Artists view no longer respects album boundaries, and there's no way to play a single album or shuffle a single album when you enter through Artists, Composers, Genres, etc. The only way to do that is to enter through Search or the Albums view. This totally breaks the main way besides Playlists that I use the Music app. I urge everyone to report this on Apple's Feedback page, and to vote early, and often. I'd also complain about the ridiculous new hybrid albums/song view, which instead of providing a simple list of albums under an Artist as it's always been, makes me scroll through potentially hundreds of songs to go album to album.

Hmm, I checked years and I thought mine didn't follow year order either. I'll have to recheck that.
Either way, it's bananas. Your comments are spot on
