How do you know if an email from Apple is authentic?

Were you expecting an email from Apple?

Is the email asking for private information?

Are there grammer and spelling errors in the email?

Do the email headers show the email is not from Apple?

Is the email offering a get rich scheme?

Is the email asking for money?

Is the email asking for your password?

If you were expecting an email from Apple and it is not asking for private information it may be a legitimate email. Otherwise it may be phishing.

I was not expecting an email. There are logos and icons, but in not convinced its actually from apple. They wanted me to verify my account information. It is addressed Dear Client. Which I am uncertain if apple addresses you by name or what.

    Thanks

Best procedure might be to simply delete it.   If it is important and it is Apple, they will contact you again.

Then you can go through to the contact us site and ask for the security section if it is still a cause for doubt.   Better safe than sorry.

Delete it. Apple has your account information. They won't send you an email asking you to verify it.
