I also have eye vision problems and it doesn't matter if I lessen the brightness, it is hard for me to read, I would love to know if there is options to change the colors of the icons which I put some in a file to black again, not the tan, and to change the keyboard and texting so that it isn't so white, very hard due to my vison problems. Many phones have different color themes on there phones to choose from, Apple is missing boat on allowing us to customize this feature, especially for those with vision problems. Inverting also inverts all your pictures, so that option stinks too.
yes I am having the same problem. I am visually impaired also, and I notice I have to "constantly" switch invert colors on/off...
For instance, I have to turn invert colors ON in
pretty much any app that has a 'white' background.
Then when I'm done using those apps, I have to turn invert colors back off again
the lock screen
the home screen
anywhere else that doesn't have a white background
so ya see, I agree it is a pain, because after awhile when your constantly turning
invert colors on/off, and voiceover on/off, the iphone freezes up after awhile and you
end up having to reboot the iphone several times a day just for toggling invert, and voiceover
on//off all day long. I mean sometimes its every 2 minutes I'm having to switch back and forth
depending upon what app I'm trying to run. so I understand completely.
then I have to turn voiceover on to read on backgrounds I can't see, like that dullish grey on
the lock screens control center. Since I don't know how to access that with VoiceOver on yet,
I have to keep toggling voiceover on/off twice just to access then read the various control center options
So I getcha completely, and its even worse when you have to keep toggling voiceover on off all the time.
There are times I wish there was a setting in voiceover for visually impared users that read whats on the screen but doesn't change the gesture set, otherwise I'd have voiceover on all the time but there are some things you
can't access with voiceover on I'm finding out, especially in
the app store when search results come up,
accessiing the lock screen's top and bottom contron center,
terminating apps from the multitaslking area
can't perform those actions using voiceover
A very childish-looking interface with some over-designed touches, and a few neat features that •may• make it worthwhile.
There really should be some fore-thought into how the more mature eye might strain with new colour schemes. Just a little colour customisation could be included relatively easily and cheaply, couldn't it? Even if only for mail and messages?
If Apple really wants to keep making it harder for its sizeable 'middle-aged and beyond' clientele to read their messages, well, my eldest brother swears by a larger thing made by Samsung. I'm beginning to see his point..!
I just downloaded the new operating system on both my iphone and ipad: iOS 7.0.2. I am very unhappy with the changes that have occurred with this download. I would like to go back to iOS 6 and would like to know how to do so.
I did not want, expect, or need the visiuals on every part of my ipad to change. Is there a way to change the screen appearance back to what it was?
Icons have been changed to "line drawings" (if that makes sense) and now the screens are all in shades of grays and blues. This is much harder to read and creates eye strain that was not an issue before. The previous iteration had sharp colors and good contrast - making it so much easier on the eyes.
How can I fix this so my ipad is not so troublesome to use? Inverting colors is not helping.
I concur...there's too much white and there's no way (that I'm aware of) to control the brightness. Apple really needs to fix this. Going "negative" as other's have suggested replaces the white background with black but inverts the rest of the color spectrum and that's not tolerable either. I'm baffled as to why they pushed this IOS out with such a severe screen presence and no way to adjust it.
Does Apple read these complaints???
I have same problem too and I'm now thinking to change my phone due this, It's really difficult to use due this white bright background on keyboard, and really thin letters, is not helpping me...
I love my phone, but I'm start thinking to change it to an Android phone because keyboard is better (dark baground, with bold letters)...
IO6 was so easy to use, and so clear. now this new interface is so usseless for me...
and like others, inverting colors back and forth is not a choice (unless it's only for the keyboard...)
Please Apple listen to us! do not ignore us....
yeah I agree with all you guys statements, the color scheme on IOS 7 *****,
I am having to constantly turn on off on off on off "invert color" mode just to switch between
the home screen, typing, and reading text messages, its an absolute pain!!
I never had any of this trouble in IOS 6.
What they SHOULD do, is make 2 different color schemes
one LIGHT color scheme,
and one DARK color scheme, for those using "invert colors" frequently.
See, what Apple doesn't seem to understand is, when you turn on "invert colors",
the lock screen turns bright WHITE, so you have to turn invert colors OFF just to read the lock screen,
then back ON when you want to type an email, read a text message, etc etc, then turn it off again when
you want to play a game.
and see, after awhile, when you switch invert colors on off on off after so many times, it drains on the devices resources, & you have to reboot the device to get accessibility options working again. I have to reboot the device several times a day now just because of that, when its just a simple fix of adding a darker color scheme as a 2nd or alternative option.
I mean, even as a normal sighted person, turning on invert colors is annoying when your at the lock screen or playing a game, think about those of us who depend upon it just to read text on the screen.. VoiceOver has the smilar issues when you have to turn it off on off on all the time it drains the system resources of the phone also,
so I agree completely...
but ya know, they don't listen to us... cuz its an option they don't use, so they don't understand... If they used that option for even 5 seconds, they'd understand what we're talking about.... What Apple should do is hire one of us as a beta tester to help them test out these types of issues, from one of us like myself who knows a thinkg or two about accessibility options of the phone.
I've been an Apple idevice fan for years, but, IOS 7 was a major disappointment in the accessibility arena..
