Q: iTunes Radio stops after one song

Just downloaded 11.1 and started a new radio station. I continued adding bands while Radio played two songs from the original band. The third song played from a different band and when it was done, so was iTunes. The station just stopped with the Play control available. I clicked it and got a Nissan commercial followed by the third song (that just played). I hit skip. iTunes stopped again. I quit iTunes and relaunched. Went back to the station, hit play and got that same third song. I let it play out and it stopped again. Can't seem to do anything else.

Perhaps a dumb question, but does Apple communicate anywhere what their known issues are so people aren't just left hanging wondering what is going on?

There is a feedback button within iTunes.  I have already submitted my feedback.

    Update on mine.

For some reason mine just started working. Not sure why.

    So far so good.

I can play iTunes Radio just fine for a period of time, then it just stops playing and eventually iTunes dies. No console message. When I start it again, and play the same station - it starts the same rotation over from the beginning... Very annoying!

I had the same issue with the songs stopping. I looked and I found that I had 20 identified artists in my selection. After I paired down to 10 - the player immediately started with a new song. There is evidently a threshold for the number of artists one can add to a station.

It would be nice for some kind of validation, though.

I have the same issue on both my MBP and my iPhone 5.  iTunes Radio has been working fine the last two days but today I started adding artists to an existing radio station and then it stops playing and won't start again after only one song.

Yep, I truly belive this is the way to go as it solved my original problem and seems to be working for others: cut your artist list down to 10 or below. There are a couple of other quirks with Radio, but livable. I hope Apple either fixes this issue or straight out limits the artist list to 10.

Same issue here but with a twist.  After cutting back # artists, I got it to play, then I added more artists in iTunes on iMac and with Apple TV.  Still plays but only on those devices - not on my iPhone.

Glad to see I'm not the only one with the problem.  It's very frstrating; and thank you all for the discussion, but I only have 5 artists added to that station and never have had more than 8 or 9.  It doesn't seem to be artist-list related (at least not for me).  I can listen to a different station for a while (an hour?) and go back to the original [faulty] station and then it works again, but still only for a little while and then stops again.  And the cycle continues.

Hope it gets figured out soon; I was really looking forward to a Pandora alternative...

Thanks. I'll look. I encountered all of the above (and below) problems while trying to play Itunes Radio over ATV from a just-updated 4S phone (iOS7): works great for a maximum of two songs. After multiple attempts to kick it in gear just went back to Pandora.

Mine will crash during weak wifi and cellular connections. Also the audio stops but the stream continues often times. But the biggest issue I have is the crashing that occurs during a weak signal. It's like a cheap third party app that constantly crashes. Went back to pandora that's flawless.

Same problem here, but two of my three stations it has happened to only have one artist. The other station has 4 artists. If I delete the station and then recreate it with the same artist, it works again for a while. Like Tommyvercetti mentioned, it does appear to be somehow related to a weak connection (for me it's sometimes when I'm running an offsite backup).

Well, even though I have changed absolutley nothing, my station reached a song today (one it had played before, I believe) then stopped. I hit play, it thinks, it stops. I quit iTunes, delete more artists, hit play, it thinks, it stops. Looks like Radio is a bust for me. I'll just stick to the more processor intensive browser options. Really disappointed, as I was enjoying it.

Update: after updating the phone I discovered that there was an update for Apple TV as well: which includes the iRadio (or iTunes radio, or whatever it's called). It works fine from a technical perspective, but I believe that the artistic spectrum for a given station parameter - artist, song, etc - is still lagging. Also, I say pro forma, I can detect no user advantage to the iOS 7 updates, so assume that it was for the benefit of Apple Inc rather than their customers. I expect more of the same in the future.
