Sep 19, 2013 11:06 AM in response to dchampionby terisinwa,So I have tried all the various things that have (and have not) helped others and I'm still stuck... I purchased my phone used a year ago... have been using it through Verizon successfully all this time, have my appleid on iTunes, erased all the old emails on FaceTime... my appleid shows up everywhere except iCloud... since it was a user I purchased from a year ago, I have no way to contact for help with the password. Without doing a complete reset, I may just be stuck. If I back everything up on iTunes and do a complete reset, I can re-sync with everything back to my phone again, yes? thanks for any help you can offer -

Sep 19, 2013 2:30 PM in response to gareth173by LlammaMomma,I had renamed my Apple ID to my new email address, but had NOT changed the password. I could not sign in to icloud because the ID was wrong (the old email account) and grayed out. I was able to log out of Find My Phone with the old ID and current password. Once that was done, I deleted the icloud account. When asked if I wanted to delete contact, etc, from my iPad I said no. Then I logged back in with my current ID and password. I was asked about merging my contacts, etc and said yes. I did not lose anything and it only took a couple minutes. NOW I get to do the dame thing on my iPhone after I install IOS 7. I tackled the one I cared the least about first in case I had to be without for awhile. Good luck guys, but this was definitely easier than I had thought. Most of my time was me paranoidly backing up everything I could first.

Sep 19, 2013 4:17 PM in response to LlammaMommaby TimOsborn80,I am having same issue. Problem is that it wont accept password for old ID. I didnt create new account, just updated to new name and email address. same password but no longer takes it.
This is frustrating. Have tried all of previously mentioned solutions. The thing that annoys me the most is that one of the guys from genius bar actually updated name and email for me because I mentioned I use a different email now. He said, no worries, that is a simple fix. Wrong.

Sep 19, 2013 4:30 PM in response to TimOsborn80by LlammaMomma,Make sure you are turning off find My Phone first. My old password Did NOT work with the icloud account as you say, but Did let me turn off Find My Phone. Once that was done, I was able to delete the account. I couldn't delete the account because of the password issue until Find My Phone was turned off. Not sure why the old password will work with the old ID ONLY to turn off Find my phone.

Sep 20, 2013 4:06 AM in response to TrevorTraub453by Teve,When trying to delete the old account, did you select the option to choose 'Delete from My iDevice' when prompted? I could not get it to accept my password to turn off 'Find My Phone' until I had selected that option. If your current password is not the same and does not work when doing this, try a previous password if you remember it.
I was apprehensive about allowing it to delete the stuff from my phone but it should be restored when you reconnect with your new ID, at leasrt for me it was.
Good Luck

Sep 20, 2013 6:26 PM in response to dchampionby Designwerks,So this FINALLY worked for me...
I have an iPhone 4 and just upgraded to IOS 7... could not delete my "old" iCloud account (as it was grayed out) as so many of you have written...
I also wanted to use my current iCloud account as the one grayed out was an old one... I was not able to delete as it wanted a password that was no longer connected to the iCloud account - similar to so many of your posts...
1. Went to Find iPhone and noticed it had my "old" iCloud account. Changed it to my new working one and logged in (stay logged in). Many other posts suggest to log out... For me, I stayed logged in...
2. Then (didn't read this in many posts) went to Find Friends (guess what) it also had my "old" iCloud account... log on with your new account and password and stay logged in.
3. Go to settings iCloud - try to delete your old account - it will ask for your password - type the one you used in #1 and #2 to log on - and it works!
Note: most posts discuss Find iPhone but because I had Find Friends on my iPhone I had to activate and keep on both those apps before I went to delete my old iCloud account (which I deleted over two years ago)...
P.S. I did loose my Photo Stream Photos but, a small price to pay for having them connected to an account that in reality didn't exist anymore.
Message was edited by: Designwerks Ok - so the images from Photo Stream were LOST from my iPhone but, when I went to my iPhoto's (mac desktop) all the photos from Photo Stream were there! I guess Photo Stream does what is supposed to do!!! While 695 images were deleted from my iPhone Photo Stream, there were 695 on my iPhoto Desktop Mac!!!

Sep 20, 2013 6:47 PM in response to rccola27by Designwerks,One last thing... I noticed in my Game Centre it also had my old info - while my post above didn't require this step, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try setting all three first...
1. Find iPhone
2. Find Friends
3. Game Centre

Sep 20, 2013 7:44 PM in response to ashleyrae5by BsmithSHLS,I had this same problem. What I did was create a "new" Apple ID with the exact same email as my old Apple ID that was inactive. Then, I was able to use the new password that I had just made to delete the Apple ID on my phone. Hope this helps.
