Q: iTunes lists every episode of a podcast. Can't delete cloud listing.

Since downloading iTunes 11.1.0.126, when I display my podcasts in a LIST, it displays every episode from that podcast I'm subscribed to. With the option to redownload it.

This is terrible, because most podcasts have hundreds of old episodes. The majority of which I'd like to clear of my screen and never listen again.

But now I can't simply hit DELETE on my keyboard.

Help. Thanks.

Looks like you are on a Windows machine? If so, then look around at all of the menus to see if you can find the option to Hide Music in the Cloud. I can't imagine that they would release a version of iTunes for Windows that showed your Music in the Cloud in your library, but wouldn't let you change that view....

Post back if you find it anywhere....

    Cheers,

OK, see if you have this option:

Go to iTunes>Preferences, and once they are open, click on the Store tab:

    Screen Shot 2013-09-20 at 2.24.59 AM.png

Do you see that option under Store? Maybe uncheck it? If it is already unchecked, then maybe check it and then see if the View Music option now shows in your View dropdown....

    Post back!

    Cheers,

yes, that option is in the store but unchecking it does nothing.  i've been looking through this forum and there are quite a few people that are having this same problem.  thanks for trying to help gail!!!

Mine is already unchecked with this problem.

I see no where to select 'Hide Cloud' stuff.

    I'm running Windows 7 64-bit

It needs to be checked in order to see the option to Hide or Show Music in the Cloud on the View dropdown. I just tested that on my Mac, and when I unchecked it, the option as shown in my post above goes away. Checked, it comes back.

Not sure why it's not working as it should but here is what I would recommend:

    1.     Try checking the option in preferences, and see if the Hide/Show option displays in the View Dropdown. If it does, try checking and unchecking it in the dropdown to see if anything changes (you will be able to see it immediately if it does).

    2.     Reboot your PC. Last night (when everything was at a virtual standstill on the Apple servers because the entire world was doing stuff on them all at the same time....), I looked at my iTunes library and saw that the cloud items were showing. So, I clicked on Hide Music in the Cloud, and they disappeared. So, I wanted them back, and clicked Show Music in the Cloud, and they didn't come back I thought I would wait until this morning to see if they had come back yet, knowing that the Cloud server was probably as slammed as the rest of them....this morning they were back!!!

So, the issues you may be having may just be a hang up with the Cloud, and a reboot may clear that up. (You could also just try signing out and back into iTunes before rebooting to see if that has any effect).

We are all kind of groping around at this point trying to get the specifics down for the new iTunes and how it works for both Windows and Mac. So, any help you can provide by trying any of the suggestions above would be most helpful (if any of them work...fingers crossed!)

    Thanks and cheers,

If you check the box in Prefrenece>Store tab, reading Show iTunes In Cloud Purchases you are infact given the option in View to Hide Music In the Cloud.

However, this is only related to Music. And has NO effect on Podcasts. In fact, the option is not present when you click from Music over to Podcast.

What they need is a Hide Podcast In the Cloud option or just go back to being able to delete unwanted shows.

yes!  there definitely is a "hide music in the cloud" option for music but nothing like that for podcasts.  it's just a big design flaw and hopefully will be addressed soon

    Having the same problem.

The "Hide XXXX in the Cloud" option only appears for Music, Movies, and TV Shows. I can't say if it was there for Podcasts before 11.1.0.126 or not...but I do know the option to delete an episode, by either the delete key or the right-click delete, was available pre 11.1.0.126.

Just to reiterate, it's only the undownloaded podcasts in the Cloud that can't be deleted from the list view.

I am having the same issue as everyone else.  This is a huge oversight by Apple to not include the option for podcasts.  I am on updated Lion running iTunes 11.1.

Same here. I think the lack of a "hide music in the cloud" option in the dropdown appears to be a Windows issue, but it this has rendered the whole podcast feed system pretty much unuseable for me.

If you click the My Podcasts button it shows the podcasts that have not been deleted opposed to showing the podcasts under the list button. Under My Podcasts it does not show any podcast with a cloud next to them.

It’s not perfect but until Apple sort this out this is a good work around for the problem.
