Even if it isn't exactly compatible, can they not just tweak it for it..? They still sell it on the website since they refuse to make a 16GB 5th gen. So why can they not give us an update for a product they are selling? If this is some type of business strategy to get us to update to the newer versions, then they should of stopped selling it. I just bought this iPod touch a month ago...should I not have the accessibility to the newest, "better", OS? Can we just not use the iPhone 4's update? Same amount of Memory... same type of hardware. Plus iPhone 4 does not get siri or airdrop either.

iPod touch, iOS 6.1.3

    No.

All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory. The 4G iPod only has 256 MB

Then why on earth do they sell it on the website if it is not even compatible with future updates? I am beyond frustrated with this... the software is not exactly cheap. Bought it for $230 and can't even update it a month after I buy it?

Apple only sells refurbished 4G iPods.

The only 4th gen iPods they sell on the website are refurbished models; they started selling a 16 GB 5th gen iPod back in May.

Also, if you bought it a month ago as you said, the information was clearly available on the Apple website that the 4th gen iPod touch would not be compatible with iOS 7. Sorry you didn't do more research.

You're welcome. And I understand...not trying to sound curt, just stating the facts as they are.

I've had my IPod Touch 4th gen for 2 years now. I don't mind not having system 7. But I sure don't like this planned obsolescence bullsh** Come on, this crap is 2 years old, and i can't have the new upgrade? Jobs must be spinning in his grave...

they should not make an upgrade that all apple users cannot use.

Ridiculous - if that were the requirement, they would have to stop releasing any new hardware ever again.

The fact is that new hardware enables new features and capabilities, that require new software and firmware to use them.  Those in turn will simple be impossible to implement on older hardware.  It is the very essence of the meaning of "progress" in technology.

WELL THEN WHY CANT THEY COME OUT WITH SOIME SOFT WARE THAT IS COMPATIBLE WITH OLDER MODELS. CASE IN POINT WHAT IF YOUR DEVICE IS NOLONGER ABLE TO UPDATE WONT YOU FEEL A LITTLE  HURT FOR BEING A SUPPORTER AND NO BEING TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION

Hurt?  No, why would I take personal offense at this sort of thing?  It's just a thing, something I bought and use not some highly personal gift.  Anything you buy eventually becomes obsolete.  Obviously, if the new software implements features or capabilities that depend on new hardware advances, that software cannot possible be offered for older devices.

I also do not see anyone buying an Apple product as a "supporter".  Apple is not a charity.  They are a business offering products that I, a consumer, knowingly and willingly spend my money to purchase (and if I don't like what they are selling, I would not buy it).  No one forced anyone to buy any Apple product.
