I had a new hard drive put in my iMac, and reinstalled everything from scratch. When I try to get itunes to use the folder I've always used as my itunes library (an an external drive), it says: "An iTunes library file could not be found in the folder iTunes. Please choose a different folder." http://cdn.macrumors.com/vb/images/smilies/confused.gif

Anybody know what I need to do here?

Is the external folder name iTunes or is it named iTunes media?

    Is there an

    • iTunes library.itl file
    • iTunes library.xml file
    • iTunes media folder

and a few other folders/files in this folder on the external?

That is simply the iTunes media folder.

Your iTunes folder is on the computer.

Do you have a backup of the /Music/iTunes/ folder from yoru old hard drive?
