macbook pro, samsung 840 firmware, ssd, samsung 840 pro, samsung 830 ssd

I spent hours trying to find this information

so I am posting the results clearly for people in the future:

Need to update your firmware on the Samsung 840 as of (3/5/2013)

then download this file:

http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/samsungssd/downloads/Samsun g_SSD_840_DXT07B0Q_Mac.iso

**This file is the latest firmware from DEC/2012, you can check this page at the bottom to see if there

is any newer ones:

http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/samsungssd/downloads.html

And burn this to a bootable DVD from your superdrive

then boot from it by rebooting your macbook pro and holding down the "c" key

http://www.ehow.com/how_6782539_boot-macbook-cd.html

I found that trying to do this on a bootable USB is a complete waste of time if you can just

make a booatable DVD.
