    Interesting: I'm on 7.0 and my iPhone 5 reports it's up-to-date.

I am in the uk with 2 iPhones on O2 network, iPhone 5 and 4, neither would activate iMessage or FaceTime but now fixed.

    1) iPhone 5 had no tugo app but I backed the phone up in itunes and then erased the whole phone, I set up as a new phone and the key here is not to log into iCloud or anything. Go to iMessage and turn it on, it will probably fail again. Turn phone off and back on then try iMessage again but this time enter your apple credentials. This worked for me and I then restored phone from back up and still all working.

    2) iPhone 4, tried the process above twice and both times failed. This phone has the tugo app and every time I activated iMessage a garbled text message would arrive. I then seen other users with tugo on the net with problems and followed their instructions of deleting the tugo account from the app settings and then deleting the app itself. Restarted phone and then turned on iMessage again and it functioned instantly.

I spoke to Apple store yesterday and they told me they are not aware of this problem and I should speak to O2, O2 referred me to apple.

I had issue with iMessage and facetime.  Tried all fixes with no luck.  I went to support on apple website and ran diagnostic for activation or setup with wireless carrier (under phone messages and data).  It seem to fix itself after 1 hour.

O2 users , Just to refresh try Deacticating your 02 TUGO app if installed, deactivating may be enough, if not then delete as welll AFTER deacticating, then turn iMessage on and off again. Should resolve issue, anyone else , make sure you havevent signed up for a service that intercepts your messages so that you can use a PC to access them, if you have then deactivate the service until enabled.

    I'm in UK on O2.

If you have the Tugo app, go into it, delete account then delete the app.

iMessage and FaceTime will then activate.

You can then reinstall Tugo and set it up again.

    O2 are blaming apple.

My iMessage was exactly same as yours, but when I turned it off then on again it wouldn't even activate so I had nothing!

    Do you have FaceTime?

I noticed mine was missing after ios 7 update and I had to go into restrictions and turn it back in again, but neither would activate until I deleted my Tugo account.

Are you in pay monthly with O2?

Just a thought, but have you ever had Tugo but uninstalled it ie your number is registered with Tugo?

Maybe try installing Tugo, setting up an account, then try turning iMessage (and FaceTime if you have it) in and off, then delete Tugo then the app itself and try iMessage again?

Bit if a pain but I'm sure it's something to do with Tugo
