Sep 19, 2013 10:49 PM in response to swandyby Terence Devlin,At a guess: What photostream shows you is the camera roll. That's the "shot as taken". Once you apply a filter, either with the built-in filter or a 3rd party app, the processed image is stored away from the camera roll, and will have to be accessed some other way - via the Share menu usually.

Sep 20, 2013 11:25 AM in response to Terence Devlinby swandy,I don't think that is the problem because on my other iOS devices (another iPhone 5 and an iPad Mini) both of those Photo Streams show the filtered version of the image. And the Camera Roll on the iPhone which took the image shows (and saves) only the filtered version. So it has something to do with the way Mac OS/Aperture/iPhoto are reading the file in Photostream. Because if I email the photos to my iMac, and then load them into Aperture, they show filtered. (Too bad that AirDrop does not work between iOS and the Mac's.)

Sep 21, 2013 8:24 AM in response to Terence Devlinby swandy,There may be something to your point. Apparently the filtered versions are "non-destructive" and apparently non-iOS 7 devices don't see the filter effect. Hopefully there will be a way to resolve this in the future.

Sep 22, 2013 11:54 AM in response to swandyby jdskee, this seems like a bug in iPhoto. my iPad 2 (running iOS 6) correctly applies the iOS 7 filters on images downloaded from Photo Stream. iPhoto '11 running on my MacBook Pro (running 10.8.5) does not apply the filters.

Sep 22, 2013 12:04 PM in response to jdskeeby Terence Devlin,iOS isn't "applying filters" it's tagging the files with display tags - like orientation tags. iPhoto doesn't work with these tags.

Sep 22, 2013 12:11 PM in response to Terence Devlinby swandy,Yes Terence hence the post about non-destructive. But I would have assumed there would had been a way to save the filtered version so other apps and computers would see the results. But aside from emailing (which works with computers) there is not. Like I post pictures to Google + and they are none filtered because even an app on the phone that took the picture does not see it properly.

Sep 22, 2013 12:17 PM in response to Terence Devlinby jdskee,ok, so thats the technical explanation. but from the end-user's perspective (i.e., me, and others who expect this to operate consistently), it's a bug.
apple, please fix.
yes, I have submitted feedback.

Sep 24, 2013 4:16 AM in response to swandyby luigi7268,★HelpfuliPhoto/Aperture displays all Filters correctly, if Photostream is shared. So why is that?
-
Sep 24, 2013 6:59 AM in response to luigi7268by swandy,Luigi I have to try that. Never set up shared Photostreams because never saw the need for it. Will have to check that out. But still dies not resolve the basic issue because other apps on the same iDevice don't see the filtered version.

Sep 24, 2013 11:37 AM in response to swandyby Old Toad,You should ask that question in the iPhone community.
-
Sep 24, 2013 11:43 AM in response to Old Toadby swandy,I did and having similar discussion there. With no real solution as to why Apple would have handled the filters and adjustments this way. It's nice that they are non-destructive but it would make more sense if other programs and especially apps on the iDevice would see the adjusted version.

Sep 24, 2013 12:13 PM in response to swandyby LarryHN,IOS 7 is not a Mac program and the upgrade made no changes of any sort to your Mac software
IOS has many features teh the Mac does not and the Mac likewise has many features that IOS does not
If you want my guess it is that the next version of OS and iPhoto 9if there is one) will address this - for now it is waht it is and it has nothing to do with iPhoto for the Mac - it is a new feature on IOS 7 - will it becone a new feature on the Mac - maybe - maybe not - my guess is yes - but until it does it is only available on IOS devices - not an unusual situation

Sep 24, 2013 12:17 PM in response to LarryHNby swandy,I realize that Larry and I can only wait like you said. But it does not explain why other apps on the iPhone can't see the filtered version. I like to post photos to Google+ through the app and the app only "sees" the unfiltered version. That is what I find strange. And apparently that occurs with other iPhone and iPad apps also.

Sep 24, 2013 12:22 PM in response to swandyby LarryHN,Again that has noting to do with iPhoto for the Mac - which is what this forum is about - this is strictly for user of iPhoto to help other users of iPhoto use iPhoto the way it is - nothing more
For questions about Google _ you need to address a Google + support forum- for suggestions to Apple you need to send them to Apple - iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback for iPhoto commenat - for iPhone discussions the iphone forum is a good place
