Sep 21, 2013 11:02 AM in response to Lilinssby mrushing02,I am having this problem on my iPhone 5 and my macbook Pro. I restored the phone last night and set it up as a new phone, it finished and loaded music and then more than half the music was not actually on the phone.

Sep 21, 2013 5:41 PM in response to yax412by kymatt,So heres what I found out. Apparently if you had the "Find My iPhone" feature turned on when the update was run, issues were caused. People who have had mixed results from restoring probalby had this setting different.....for mine to resolve....i had to
1.Turn off find my iphone in settings->icloud
2.Re-back up to icloud
3.Full restore from iTunes (to reinstall ios7 with this setting off)
4.Restore from icloud backup taken at the beginning
5.Sync phone (hopefully as successfully for everyone else as for me....no songs to 5000)
6.Reinstate find my iphone if you so desire
I really hope this works for everyone else as well as it did for me.....its definitely not guaranteed but has resolved my issues......wifi sync is still failing but works everytime plugged in.

Sep 21, 2013 6:31 PM in response to kymattby slee204488,Well, I never turned on "Find My iPhone" feature so I am not sure about this.
It occured to me that the cause of problem might be playlists. Have you guys tried to sync music with Artists or Genres, not Playlists?

Sep 22, 2013 1:16 PM in response to slee204488by amy231191,I had all my playlists wiped , I am only really concerned about one as it's one that is a work in progress and has been for 3 years . I eventally resorted to restoring my iPhone with find my iPhone off and that appears to have fixed the issues (for now). BI can rebuild all my lost playlists in time it's just the massive one that I'm p***ed o** about this and apple should issue a fix to make all iPhone users turn the find iPhone feature off before updating to iOS 7

Sep 22, 2013 10:55 PM in response to mrushing02by CapeTownMac,I can confirm that I had the same problem and that a hard reset solved the problem for me. Hold down home and power button for a few seconds and release. After the reset everything synced normally.

Sep 23, 2013 12:02 AM in response to CapeTownMacby amy231191,When I did that it only solved the problem for one sync, thankfully for me I managed to find a back up of my playlists on my pc and was able to import that into iTunes and got all my playlists back

Sep 23, 2013 5:14 AM in response to yax412by DesignRich,Same here. Tried all of the above. Very frustrating. I've been syncing music from iTunes since the 1st gen iPod and have never had a problem like this! Looking forward for a proper fix or news fro Apple on this.

Sep 23, 2013 6:22 AM in response to yax412by JeffCJ,I tried a number of these fixes but what finally worked for me was:
- On iPhone, Settings, Music, turn off "Show All Music".
- Uncheck "Sync Music" in iTunes and sync with iPhone.
- Music still showing on iPhone so manually deleted them from iPhone. I think these lingering songs are the root of all the problems.
- Run iCloud backup
- On iPhone "Reset All Contect and Settings"
- Setup phone again and allow restore from iCloud.
- Check no music files. There should not be any.
- Sync with iTunes (all my Syncs were wireless but dont see why you couldn't plug in).
- Check no music files. There should not be any.
- Now add "Sync Music" back and perform a sync.
- All should be good.
This worked for me. Good luck.

Sep 23, 2013 10:35 AM in response to JeffCJby MissEm23,I have tried every single tip in this thread and on other threads as well. After unsynching, resetting the iphone 4S, re-installing iTunes blah blah blah... still nothing worked. Magically this morning all of my playlists were on my iPhone. 45 minutes later; they were all gone.
Now I feel like taking my computer and phone into the Genius bar for some real help, but I feel like I would be wasting their time. This is BEYOND annoying!

Sep 23, 2013 11:55 AM in response to MissEm23by bosmanad,I had to completely wipe and re-start my phone several times. Re-sync, etc. Complete disaster, and yeah, like a lot of people I'm seriously considering switching platforms moving forward. Apple has been a disaster this past year or two. I'm fairly computer savvy, and still spend a lot of time online trying to figure out my Apple devices. I think the biggest slap in the face is the lack of support. Go to the forums I guess

Sep 23, 2013 12:00 PM in response to MissEm23by jon8979,Are you restoring your iOS 6 backup either from iTunes or iCloud? As I wrote earlier in this thread, the only thing that stabilized my Touch for music was NOT to restore my iOS 6 backup. It's been good since I bit the bullet and started over from scratch, but as it turned out, it wasn't entirely from scratch. I wrote a little bit more about the process:
After upgrading to iOS 7 and several hours of use, music started to go missing. I restored iOS 7 in iTunes and resync'd 50 GB of music (size on device after being transcoded on-the-fly to 128 Kbps AAC), and even though the iTunes progress indicator ticked off all 12,000 songs, it got stuck on "Waiting for changes to be applied", and after 8+ hours, it never finished. So, I unplugged the Touch, and I found it only had about 4,000 songs on it. When I plugged it back into iTunes, iTunes reported over 30 GB of "Other", which I guess represents the orphaned corrupt songs. I went through several rounds of this, and the only thing that helped was to not restore my iCloud backup. Fortunately, I didn't lose all my settings. The Safari bookmarks and iBooks current page info were preserved thanks to iCloud (separate from "backups", which again I did not restore), and my Tapatalk ID kept my subscribed forums intact. I use Converter+ and used that program's Email Template feature to email myself all my custom templates, which contain links to install the templates, so I didn't lose them. Of course, I had to re-enter all my passwords for Tapatalk and Safari.

Sep 23, 2013 12:05 PM in response to yax412by seanmacc,Also try this organizing your iTunes library. For some reason, all songs aren't being recognized even if they exist in your media folder.
File > Library > Organize Library > Check "Consolidate Files".
Give sync another whirl once it completes.
