Sep 24, 2013 8:03 AM in response to Sam Friedlanderby The hatter,Say so then... and always try first with just the new RAM and if it does not show up properly - and might want to reset SMC and NVRAM just to make sure the system scans for hardware changes.
I preferred filling all DIMM slots and going with 4 x 2GB to get 8GB $60, depends on if you will need/want more than 16GB though.
Your description made it impossible, too lacking in detail, to know if what you had. "My 4GB RAM showing as 1GB" left more to imagine than anything. Was it 4GB as in 2 x2GB? that was guessed it was.
And where. And are there just the two? A1:A2 slots. You could try A1 and B1 also but only if there are only two DIMMs, more and they need to be re-arranged.
