Q: Confusing email from iCloud Team

As a former member of Mobile Me I received a free 20GB iCloud upgrade for the year to 30th September 2013. I have resubscribed in advance with automatic renewal through iCloud section of System Preferences, which reads that I will be "charged immediately and each year until you change or cancel the plan". So why is iCloud Team sending me messages to the effect that my account will be cut to 5GB in one week's time?

If you have purchased additional space that will have over-ridden the complimentary storage you had and will run until renewal a year from when you purchased it. You've received an automated email which hasn't recognized that you have purchased the storage: ignore it.

Thank you Roger. That was my initial thought too - but an automated email might be followed by an equally automated cut-off. I guess I just have to wait and see.

They did say somewhere that if you purchased additional storage before the termination of the free storage, then the free storage would be cancelled at that point.

I too wasted 10 minutes following links and System Preferences getting an incomplete answer to this question. I gave the Help page; Helpful? a No.

If you have the free storage and want to purchase it go to 'How do I purchase my current plan' and expand the section applicable to your computer or device.

I too have received the email regarding the reduced memory on September 30.  When I follow the directions, still run into confusion.  On the Apple ID Summary screen, my status states that I have the 20GB ($40.00 / year) plan but then it goes on to state "You will be downgraded to the free storage plan when your 20 GB plan ends on 09/30/13."  Yet when I click the Manage Storage button and then the Change Storage Plan button, my account info has the 20 GB plan checked.  Does this mean that I have made the correct upgrade?  Is there a way to get into my iCloud account to see passed or scheduling billing to insure that I made the change or scheduled the change sometime in the past and just do not remember doing so?

    1. Choose Apple () menu > System Preferences, then click the iCloud icon.
    2. Click the Manage button.
    3. Click Change Storage Plan.
    4. Click Downgrade Options.
    5. Enter your Apple ID password, then click Manage.
    6. Choose your current plan, then click Done.

check and make sure that you have actually upgraded.  this article should walk you through the process and get you upgraded before the 30th when the storage goes away

i wouldnt wait until the 30th to see if that email can be safely ignored but do it now
