I'm having some screen problems with a 2013 rMBP 13" when it wakes up, after going to sleep with the screen opened, showing visual glitches and artifacts "flashing" on the screen.

I discovered that if I close the screen and open it again, the problem disapears "like magic".

    Realy strange…

It seems to be just a visual problem without corruption of any data because everything seems to be 100% ok.

If it helps anyone else, my problem that had the same symptoms was mcaffee endpoint encryption on the boot disk.  Wiped the disk and reinstalled without encryption and it worked like a champ.    Must have been corrupting the sleep image.

well, call me crazy, but i maintain that in the end it will become clear that some of these rMBP's develop issues with the GPU, maybe due to the tight heat-tolerance in this first-generation case...i have gotten *bad* screen corruption that i would bet my life on are OpenGL/buffer-corruption artifacts, which have nothing to do with sleep mode (don't use sleep mode at all), or encryption (don't use it), or virus -scanners, or one of the other dozen shots in the dark Apple so often likes to present to us to gain more time to figure out the hardware problems.

In their defense, i did see a vast improvement in the severity of these artifacts and their frequency of occurrance after their last firmware upgrade that i was asked to wait for when i went to the Genius Bar *twice* about it (took photos of the corrupted screens and all)...and yes, it did get better, but i must say that it irks me extremely when i think about the fact that Apple expects their users to endure these ongoing issues while they figure out what went wrong, while making everyone go through a laundry list of unnecessary procedures, such as re-installing the OS (which i was asked to do 4 times, and losing a *lot* of time in the process i could have done *real* work during), removing half of the installed software and startup items, and otherwise sending us on goose-chases, only to hide the fact that they are already aware of hardware issues (because why would they otherwise ask me to wait for the firmware fix).

sorry for the rant, but this is only one of a series of hardware-related issues i've had with my Apple products this past year, and frankly, i am growing tired of the run-arounds and the apparent lack of quality control as of late...i am a professional, a pay professional prices for these higher-end products, and i expect professional and honest service in return.

I have the same problem with my 15" MacBook pro retina, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 2.3 GHz. I'm using OS X Mavericks. I have automatic graphics switching enabled. Closing the lid or logging in/out doesn't solve the problem, only switching to lower resolution does, but it's really annoying because I need the higher resolution.

Go to a genius bar before warranty expires.

    Temporali fix:

    -restart as safe mode

    -reboot

-disable safe sleep because the sleep image gets corrupted when mac goes to sleep in desicated gfx card.

Your mac never will go to "hibarnatio" BUT you will never get this glitch again(hope so!)

Hey, everyone else seems to have slightly different issues, but your screenshot looks exactly the same as mine! Did you ever find a fix? This is now the second late 2012 13" MBPr ive had with the same issue...

I went to the Apple Store 2 days ago and the "genius" told me he just recieved an email with a fix for it. He came out with a printed piece of paper with instructions on how to fix the problem. So far, I have not had any screen flickers on my late 2012 retina macbook pro 2.5GHz i5 with 8GB ram.

I kept the actual copy of the paper but took a picture of it for you guys to see.

Be sure to follow the steps! Really easy to do!

He said constantly restoring your mac to a fresh OS will not solve the problem unfortunately, since Apple have not yet patched the issue. I had this problem ever since updating to Mavericks (dont think ever before then). So, of course it must be a Mavericks bug!

HOPE THIS HELPS! (be sure to always back up your mac before doing anything)photo.JPG

I'm guessing you should use the mac a bit and restart a few times before finally emptying the trash and deleting the files that were moved to the desktop then

after restarting do you empty out the recycling bin?

    Hi,

I think this can be solved by going to

System preferences > Energy Saver > Unselect the automatic graphics switching.

Hopefully, this will resolve the issue.
