This is my go to app to keep an eye on my three kids at three diff schools. Fix it apple Dev plzzz.  The way it's working now with the app having to be open for it to work is pointless.

    iCloud: Troubleshooting Find My Friends

    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4008

I went over the steps above and all my setting are correct including background updates... iOS7 update seems to have killed the ability to find friends unless the friend has the app open all the time... I can only see my friends who HAVE NOT updated to iOS7.

This is obviously a problem because most of people I know dont leave apps open in an effort to conserve battery life.

I sure hope Apple fixes this...

The only solution that I've found so far, is just to leave the app running on the background. Also make sure that "Background App Refresh" under the General Settings is turn on.... I agree very annoying!!

Please count this complaint TIMES FOUR. One for each iPhone. We have two iPhone 4s and two iPhone 5s. FIND FRIENDS was working fine on all four until the upgrade to iOS 7. PLEASE fix the bug9s) and update this tired old looking app!

We should all file bad reviews on the app in the App store.  Can we do bad reviews of iOS7, too?  It's so buggy.  I've found at least five major bugs (calendar/ics subscriptions, camera crashing, facetime calls locking you out of controls, Find my Friends no longer working, and contact information being "scrambled" on the iOS 7 device (but fine in the cloud).   BAD APPLE!

Yes, I am definately having this issue.  With one of my friends, the FmF app works when we text or call each other while the app is up, but not before.  Did Apple neglect to update their apps?

Yes, I am having this exact problem across a spectrum of apple devices..an iphone 5, and iphone 4S and also an ipad (latest, retina display)

Ever since I have downloaded the ios 7 on these 3 devices, the app - find my friends have completed stopped working - it just goes into an infinite loop of "locating" - whereas the 3 could be all in the same place sharing the same WiFi.....

    PLEASE HELP !

    Everyone,

Keep posting reviews in the AppStore for FindMyFriends. It is almost approaching to the lowest 1 star rating (after scoring 5 stars in the past). You can post your reviews from your iOS device (App Store) or via iTunes.

The more reviews the users do, the faster they will notice. I really doubt Apple Dev team reads this forums.

Same problem here, even after I set my son's phone up a a brand new phone (fun!).

I suggest we all submit a bug request, there is no way Apple will know unless we tell them.  They do not always notice these messages in communities.

I'm beginning to this this may be permanent! Considering they've updated the app to say "location alerts are sent even when the app is in the background and has been optimized to not drain your battery"!! I know no one who keeps apps open all of the time and consider this a major fail on apples part! And that it still works fine for those still on iOS6 makes me wish I could go back to it!!!

I've submitted bug requests and a review.  I'm beginning to think its a permanent thing though since they updated the app to say it works even when it's on in your background and is optimized not to drain the battery.  Which really blows since no one (that I KNOW) leaves apps open like that!!

I have sent my review and updated it since it seems you can't leave more than one but see my last reply, I'm really worried this is the way apple intends to leave it!!!
