Q: iTunes lists every episode of a podcast. Can't delete cloud listing.

Since downloading iTunes 11.1.0.126, when I display my podcasts in a LIST, it displays every episode from that podcast I'm subscribed to. With the option to redownload it.

This is terrible, because most podcasts have hundreds of old episodes. The majority of which I'd like to clear of my screen and never listen again.

But now I can't simply hit DELETE on my keyboard.

Help. Thanks.

Gail from Maine. Is the photo of a Maine Coon Cat? My grandfather had one. Mean. One man only. Certainly didn't like me. But most cats don't like 6 year olds as a matter of self preservation.

Your answer works fine for Music but it doesn't work for Podcasts. When looking at Podcasts, there is nothing under the View menu to hide or show Podcasts in the Cloud.

I read all the messages on this theme and discovered that I could indeed Hide and Show Music in the Cloud when I have Music selected but the option goes away when I have Podcasts selected. I think this likely not a PC versus Mac issue nor a which version of the Mac OS you are running but rather a design change that Apple made with the version of iTunes that we are all discussing.

But your comments and those of others did lead me to better understand what was going on.

I would love for Apple to restore the ability to Hide Podcasts in the Cloud to work like Hide Music in the Cloud.

Although this discussion is supposedly just for itunes for Windows, in fact it is the IDENTICAL problem with itunes for MAC.

APPLE - you need to fix this.

(Again, the issue is HIDING PODCASTS IN THE CLOUD - and preventing downloadable podcasts from reappearing after you delete them.)

    Hi Gil,

No he is just a regular tabby...and very curious and friendly! If a plumber is here working under a cabinet, he's right there trying to get in and help him....(or her) .

You are absolutely correct, the instructions I provided do only work for Music...(my bad). I did see that one poster indicated that if she used the My Podcasts tab, it did not have the iTunes in the cloud items listed there. A lot of people are unhappy about not being able to Show or Hide iTunes in the Cloud items on the other tabs, so fingers crossed there will be a solution forthcoming!

    Cheers,

Dittos - There NEEDS TO BE a "Hide iCloud Podcasts" there are now over 10,000 podcasts in my list - This is just plain stupid on Apple part - I mean, to add "Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases" checkbox, and NOT to add a "HIDE iCloud Podcasts" - somewhere an Apple Product Manager NEEDS TO BE FIRED!!!!

No magic NOT - This only hide "purchased" music/etc. This does NOT hide the massive list of stored Podcasts, I now have over 10,000 podcasts being displayed. Apple needs to add an "HIDE iCloud PODCASTS".

AIn't gonna happen. Apple wants you to use their idiotic Podcasts app. My iPod Touch is busted, so am forced to use my Galaxy S2 to listen to podcasts - and I may decide I'm not interested in shelling out a few hundred for a new iPod Touch, even though it means losing my iOS games. Apple has tinkered with podcasts too much, and I've had enough. Seriously.

"Apple wants you to use their idiotic Podcasts app." Yeah, can we use that on our desktops? Critical Fail, Apple :-(.

It's not a PC verses MAC problem it's a bug in ITunes. I've always been able to delete and get rid of the podcasts I don't want. When I upgraded to the newest version, is when the problem occured. It's a problem that apple needs to fix.

I don't see that as an option.  Under view, I am only able to Hide Sidebar or Hide Menu Bar

Just like jbromusic, I also don't have the option to select "Hide Music in the Cloud".  For, immediately after "Show Duplicate Items" is a grayed out line and then "Video Playback". Even the look of your menu looks different from mine.  I am using iTunes 11.1.0.126 downloaded on a PC laptop using Widows 7.  Are you using iTunes, perhaps downloaded on an Apple product?

Anyway, I certainly hope that this change is made quickly because now my podcast downloads look like a mess...information overload.  Also, I don't need to re-listen to news related podcasts that I listened to and deleted 3+ years ago! So much for giving the users some control over what they do/don't see.

If I delete a podcast, it just goes back in the Cloud...it is still visible, and I can still play what I had already deleted.

    Hi Allolli,

We already established earlier in this thread that the Show/Hide option that I was referring to was for Music, not Podcasts.

    Let Apple know:

Apple doesn't care. They want you to use their craptastic Podcasts app. If you don't have it, iTunes keeps shoving your Podcast tab in Music to "Other", replacing it with Compilations. You can't download episodes from the device either. It TELLS you to use the Podcast app if you don't have it.

Don't you get it? Apple doesn't want you to use iTunes with podcasts. They don't. Period. They want you to use the stupid app.
