Ipad mini facebook ios 7 problem

Hello!

After upgrading to Ios 7 i downloaded the facebook app to my ipad mini. Once i logged into it, it asked me to log in the facebook from settings in my ipad. I found facebook tab in settings and entered everything but now it tells that the password was wrong. When i'm trying to type the password, it tells me: "error signing in. Could not communicate with the server", and that's it! I tried to delete my account from that settings tab but it doesn't do anything. Even deleting app or rebooting the device still leaves that facebook tab the same: i cannot enter the password and cannot delete an account. Meanwhile each time i start facebook app - it asks me to log in from settings, but i cannot!

What can solve this issue? Because i cannot do anything with that facebook tab - neither enter the password, nor even delete account data from it.

Sorry for long question.

P.S. Anyone know if it is possible to write somewhere about bugs or lags i found in ios7?

Okay, finally i found out the solution!
When nothing worked for me, i tried the restore again. But! To make things done - you have to restore your ipad mini and then just set it up as a new device!

Ta-da!! 🙂
When i restored it from the different copies on my PC, problem kept, but setting as a new ipad solved it!

Don't forget to backup your applications, music and photos. And yes, you'll have to make settings once again 🙂

I too am experiencing this issue; on two seperate iPads (with Retina) with two different accounts. It started when I upgraded the iPad's to iOS 7.

When I tap on "Delete Account" I am asked to confirm with the following message: " Delete | Do you want to delete this Facebook account from your iPad? : Delete | Cancel "

When I tap on Delete, the message goes away and the account is not deleted from the iPad.

When I tap on "Delete Account" again, nothing happens.

If I leave the Facebook integration screen and return to it I am able to tap on "Delete Account" and am asked to confirm: " Delete | Do you want to delete this Facebook account from your iPad? : Delete | Cancel "

I just installed iOS update 7.0.2 but this issue still persists - an endless & futile loop. ∞

Wiping / restoring the iPad to setup as a new device is completely unacceptable. The hassle of losing date, settings and the tedious task of putting hundreds of Apps back into folders just isn't worth it, especially just to use Facebook integration on the iPad.

My situation may be different, but I want to add it here in case it helps someone.

I had the same problem with the inability to log in to Settings > Facebook or to delete the account because it was trying to log in to an old Facebook account that no longer exists with an old email account I no longer have access to.

This problem occurred for me right after I set up a new iPad mini RD using a backup from my old iPad mini in iTunes.

After being unsuccessful at resolving the issue on the new iPad, I went back to the old iPad and went to Settings > Facebook. I clicked on tthe account name and there I saw that it still had the email login for the old inaccessible account (this was apparently still working on the old iPad even though the account no longer existed). I clicked the Delete Account button, and removed the old account from the old iPad. Then I logged in to my current Facebook account on the old iPad.

From there I plugged the old iPad into iTunes and did a full backup. Then on the new iPad I went to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings (this was OK for me because I still had not fully set up my new iPad). Then I set up my new iPad by restoring the backing of the old iPad from iTunes.

So my steps are:

On the OLD iPad

  1. Go to Settings > Facebook and Delete Account
  2. Log in to Facebook with the new account
  3. Back up the old iPad in iTunes

On the NEW iPad

  1. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings (warning: this deletes everything!)
  2. Follow the normal procedure to set up the new iPad, selecting Restore from iTunes and the backup of the old iPad

I know this doesn't apply to everyone, but hope it helps someone.

I have the same issue as well on my 5s that I'm trying to figure out too. When I try to share using the share sheet it asks me to "Enter the Facebook password for "" in Settings. Enable posting to Facebook from the share sheet". Inputting my password for Facebook in the settings menu gives the error the OP stated.

Me too, this is really annoying. Well, my Facebook app works fine. I just can't sign into Facebook under my settings. Everytime I open the Facebook app, it will ask me to enter the log in information in settings , but I just hit cancel and continue using my Facebook app.

However, I'm missing out on whatever the integrated Facebook has to offer, because I'm unable to sign in or delete the account. I really don't want to restore, and anyway someone above me said restore didn't work for them so..are we just screwed for now?

I have a similar problem. After I upgraded my ipad to iOS 7, I can't delete the facebook account and all contacts it saved to the "Contact" app. The problem is, that is my friend's account, not mine. She used my ipad to logged into her facebook before.

Even I went to "Setup" to delete that Fb account, it was useless. I removed the facebook app, but all my friend's contacts from FB are still in "Contact" app. I guess the only way is to restore my iPad to the factory settings. Due to privacy concern, please fix the problem. I don't wanna see my friend's contacts in my ipad anymore! I am also worried if I use other people's ipad to log into my FB, all my FB contacts will be automatically saved in that device.

I had the same issue — I had an old facebook account in the iPad integration settings and kept getting errors re. automatic login. I deleted the Facebook app thinking that would fix it … but it didn’t.

Finally, in Settings / Facebook, I entered the password for the account (which was no longer active) and at that point, I turned OFF all of the integration settings (calendars, contacts, etc). THEN I could delete the account.

Hope that helps

You may have found a solution since your post, but after 2 fruitless hours talking to a helpful but ineffective genius, I managed to fix my issue myself, as follows -

- I restored my iPad as a new device, then deleted the Facebook account.

- I then restored it again, selecting my previous original back up.

- Whilst that was beginning to restore I deleted the Facebook account again.

This seemed to work for me and arguably you could simply try deleting the account during the first restore. However, this is exactly what I did that worked for me, so I thought I'd share it that way. By the way, my problem was also that I couldn't delete the account and my password would not accept either. Anyway, hope it helps you.

just got a ipad 4 used, find that same problem to setting up facebook in setting, try anything and check online for no solution, finally choose to restore from my another ipad mini, and its done, the facebook in setting is fine now, I can post photo directly from camera row now.

I suspect this might because of the previous user have sign in at setting with his contact and mess, the restore to factory not actually clean all this mess, so when I try sign in to access my contacts, it have crash something and it not work.

second possible: when I type email it will auto complete from my short cut setting, I use to tap space so that it leave a space end of the email, then the password is not working and I cannot go back to earlier.

I dun know which possible is true, becos I heard some set up at new iphone 5s or last year when they upgrade ios 6 they also facing same problem.

So theres still no solution for this?? How long has it been?

I agree with someone else's previous post, restoring is absolutely unacceptable!!!!

Apple, for the sake of everyone's SANITY, could you PLEASE test these "upgrades" THOROUGHLY before you release them??

And its been WEEKS since iOS 7 first came out, and theres been two version since then, but you haven't fixed this MAJOR PROBLEM??? Or at the very least acknowledge it?? And maybe tell us somewhere that you recognize the issue, and your working on it? Instead of pretending like your too busy creating "the revolution iphone 32"!!! Do you really think your customers are that stupid? We're not going to buy the latest and greatest phone every other month. Especially if theres problems from the last one that you never fixed. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result=the definition of insanity!! Your insane apple, not us!

Im never buying an apple product again. You don't treat loyal customers like ****. You don't care, I don't care. Helllllo galaxy s4!!

Easy fix. This happens when you have changed your primary Facebook email / login. Ios saves a token so it doesn't use the email to log in. When u get a new device and restore, the token is no longer valid and you can't delete the acct , and it's actually trying the token with the old email.

Solution:

1)!open safari. Log I to FB

2) change ur primary email back to what it used to be

3) verify the email with FB if needed

4) you can now sign into FB in ios settings

5) once u sign in, ios will let u delete the acct from ios

6) go back to Facebook, switch email to preferred email

7) reconfigure in ios ;)

This issue affects all ios 7 device upgrades if you changed your FB login email at any point in time. Even if it was a year ago. I changed my email on my ipad 4 under ios 6. The upgrade to 7 on my ipad didn't trigger it. Once I got a new device, that set it off. LUCKLY , was able to access my old email

If u can't access the old mail:

1) u r stuck till apple fixes it

2) you have to set up the ipad as new and lose all app and save game data

I'm having the same problem, but I haven't changed my email account. I got a new iPad mini and it has never let me enter my password in settings. Tonight I changed my fb password and now I can't access my fb through the app at all. I don't want to wipe my iPad. I just went through that when I had to get a new one. If anyone has ideas, I'd be so appreciative!

I've posted this on another thread, but will add it here in the hope it helps others...

Hi,

I came to this thread via google last night as I had a similar issue and can't enter an old email in FB so the above solution wouldn't work for me.

My ipad was stolen so I changed my log in email and password. (It was an old hotmail email not used in ages so not able to be reused either).

My new ipad air arrived so I installed my backed up data from itunes and set about getting to grips with ios7.

I quickly found that FB wanted the password for my account, and ran into the same as above - settings, delete, won't delete, delete app, turn off ipad, reload app, and a pop up screen that wouldn't go away unless you pressed settings instead of cancel. etc etc,

Slept on it.

Today, I have got it sorted. I hope this will help others of you.

I deleted the FB app - hold finger on icon until jiggly icon and cross, then delete. then press close button to stop everything jiggling.

Plugged ipad into main computer and opened itunes, checked if I was on latest software etc, then clicked on apps in itunes and went down the list of apps - it shows every app you've ever had (unless you've deleted them from this list)

Here's where I think I beat ios7....I loaded fb app from the list of apps in my itunes rather than downloading it straight onto the ipad.

I set the ipad to sync as usual, then ejected it from the computer.

I opened the ipad, clicked on the icon for FB, and this time instead of it asking me for my password, I got the option to enter my email address and password. As I was doing this I got the usual pop up asking for my password, but this time when I pressed the cancel button, it didn't pop up again and again and again.

After what seemed like an age while the spinning circle of death loaded my FB page, I eventually got into FB, and noticed that the FB app I had loaded was an older version (possibly for iphone?) - this is what I think you need to get around ios7 - If your version of FB in apps is too new you may need to see if you have an older back up of your ipad/iphone in itunes that you can install to get around the cycle of the pop up.

On my ipad, I then opened the app store update and sure enough FB was waiting to be updated...clicked on the update and bingo! I'm now using FB with ios7 and my new email and password.

I hope this will work for at least one other person.
