What format is the audio? I'm not familiar with the Pix 240i. Are you attempting to play the audio from the device? Probably should transfer the audio (ideally 48k 16 bit aiffs) to a drive.

Thanks for getting back, Michael. The 240 apparently, supposedly with FCP in mind, records Apple ProRes422, a single .mov file for each 45 minutes or so. Massive files , recording at 128mbs. So we have dumped the .mov files to the Mac and opened FCP7 and you can see audio, strangely distorted a little, in there in the viewer window, but you cant hear it. Put the file in compressor, it will play audio within compressor, but try and export from compressor or FCP as an XD Cam file, as ProRes, aiff, dv pal, all no go.
In terms of the ProRes settings, theres a huge choice of what one could make a movie in, but very little in the easy set up box, theres only an HDV setting there, so I have let the clip on the FCP timeline stay in its original format.
