Sep 4, 2013 10:40 AM in response to Lance Chongby howyhowy,After cleaning the charging slot on the iPhone it stopped doing the ghost-activated voice control.
There was schmutz in there shorting out the contacts which made the phone think I was holding a button down.

Sep 28, 2013 2:55 AM in response to Lance Chongby chebibs,I have the same problem Siri from is taking over so I disabled it then Voice control take over despite voice dialing is disabled . Updated my phone 5 to IOS 7.02 but the problem persist. Started to delete the Apps that I have from the App store but the problem is still presisting.
I am shocked that this happening to so many people and Apple is sitting on the side line and still wants us to belive that they afre making quality product.
It seems the only answer is to replace my iphone 5 with for Samasung Android .

Sep 28, 2013 8:38 AM in response to Lance Chongby Shanth0ny,Same thing is happening to me. Whenever I'm at the gym I can't even put it in my pocket if it has headphones. And no it's not the case.

Oct 2, 2013 7:54 PM in response to howyhowyby Optimus4,My iPhone 5 on ios7 is basically a paperweight with Siri activating all the time.
It is so intermittent so you have to try something and wait to see if it works. My two cents are a dirty lightning port or something near there or the software(probably software) I will clean it and give it a shot. There was some pocket lint that was cleaned out but Siri came back. I will try the headphone jack next.
All I know is this never happened to my multiple BlackBerry phones.

Oct 12, 2013 12:58 PM in response to Optimus4by BertieWootieWoo,I have the same problem. Tried cleaning the contacts. No change.
Siri is off in the settings, voice control starts without any prompts, and then phones out!
Apple needs to address this problem urgently!

Oct 13, 2013 6:20 AM in response to BertieWootieWooby qsaal,I started having this issue with the new iPhone 5S as well. SIRI randomly starting while at the gym. So i decided to experiment. I used the Apple headset instead of the ones that I was using. I had no issues whatsoever.
The next day I used my non-apple headset, and I experienced the same issue with Siri. It seems that Siri or the headset is extra sensitive or maybe there is a technical fault that sends a signal to the phone to activate Siri. I'm going to the Apple store this morning to get a new pair to see if this addresses the issue.
So far i can't say I can confirm this, but I believe the headset here might be the culprit.
Cheers,
rK

Nov 1, 2013 4:30 AM in response to howyhowyby Thunder Lips,This only happens when I plug my phone in, and it goes crazy with the Voice Control. I suspect you are correct, what did you use to clean the lighting slot/port. I do not want to clean it and have Apple void my warrenty. I have an appointment at the store to get the phone looked at. When I unplug the phone it works fine, but it is very difficult to use when it is plugged in.
This only happens when the phone is charging, car, computer, outlet.

Nov 17, 2013 12:11 PM in response to Cpoweaadby lopine,Voice control self-activates on my 5s when I have headphones on. No always but often enough that its driving me nuts. so I find this group which has OVER 55,000 VIEWS and Apple has not fixed this yet??

Nov 19, 2013 2:08 AM in response to Lance Chongby Tim Pentreath,I was having this problem with my iPhone 5 when using the headphones that came with it. I swapped headphones for an old pair I had from my iPhone 4 and it was all fine for a week, however it then started happening again. I tried cleaning the headphone socket by blowing air into it and cleaning it with some lighter fluid on a piece of cloth, but no improvement.
However when I tried a pair of unused iPhone 3GS headphones it all worked perfectly again. When I tried my old iPhone 4 headphones again I discovered I could make it happen by wiggling the wire near the jackplug, so clearly there's a short circuit in the cable. Probably a similar thing with my iPhone 5 headphones.
My conclusion - in my case it was definitely a headphone issue, not an iPhone hardware/OS issue. YMMV.
