Apr 22, 2013 2:07 AM in response to swang1975by Maggypat,I have recently experienced the same problem with my new iPhone5 upgrade and I simply couldn't get my wifi to connect and the phone got very hot. Occasionally it would connect and then immediately disconnect. I tried all the things I could think of and most of the fixes listed by previous people, to no avail. I got in touch with Apple who were going to send me out a replacement phone and whilst I was on the phone to the Apple advisor, I took off the case I had put on the iPhone to protect it.....immediately I removed the case the wireless net work connected. I put the case back on and 'powered off', switched back on and no wifi connection.....took the case off and it connected immediately....so hopefully I have found the solution to my problem.
The case I had put on was a very thin metal one (it might be aluminium, I'm not sure) but the bottom line is, with the case on no wifi, with the case off an easy wifi connection. I am not suggesting to have found the solution to everyone's problem but if you have a cover on your iPhone and are having difficulty connecting wifi, it might be worth trying the phone without a cover! Good Luck!

Apr 26, 2013 10:10 AM in response to swang1975by M3ODE,My iPhone 5 was working on wifi up until 5 days ago. Just will not connect to my home hub at all but was working fine on 3G. Spoke with apple and they said to backup and restore to factory settings. Guess what? Yeah.......after doing all that, I know have a 5inch piece of metal with a 3 1/2inch screen that only gives emergency calls. Mint!!!! APPLE? Never again!!!!!

Jun 25, 2013 5:55 PM in response to winktnby ffgarza,I was having the exact issue. My iphone 5 would briefly connect to my secure wifi connection, stay connected and then quickly disconnect with the wifi no longer visible. I contacted my internet provider requesting that they come in and set up a second wireless router for me but the nice individual I spoke with, told me to go to Best Buy and purchase a wifi booster. I did just that, spent around $45 and my wifi has been working just excellent in every room in my house as opposed to only working in the room where the router is. Might help!

Jun 25, 2013 6:56 PM in response to swang1975by MAD DOG 48,Try doing this -settings> General> Reset > Reset network settings and then hopefully it will work if not do a full reset Back it up first (optional) if that doesnt work its an internal component failure.

Jan 10, 2014 3:47 PM in response to warrenfromalexandriaby Geer1986,I have had problems with my Iphone 5 ever since the IOS 7 was released. I have been on the phone with Apple And my carrier (Verizon) about not being able to connect to my home WI-Fi. So after so much BS this is what I did.
Go into your routers settings and go to the wirless section and make sure your MAC address for your Iphone is in the list. If not add the Iphone mac address in there.
To find the Mac address go to settings > General > about > and than look for Wi-Fi address
these are random numbers but they look like this ( 00:1F:00:1A:0M:1N) ALL CAPS
Once that is done try to connect to the network.
if you have anymore trouble let me know.

May 28, 2014 7:30 PM in response to swang1975by ritikl,Don't worry. All you need to do is this
Go to settings
Click on wifi
Click on your internet connection that you are connected to but is not working (eg internet657)
More options will come up so all u do is that you scroll down until you see DSN
Change DSN to 8.8.4.4
If this doesn't work then change it to 8.8.8.8.
hope it helps
