Thanks for response
I mean a generic cloud(BT Cloud), when I click photos in finder it says I have 43 gb of photos but when I click the apple top left, about this mac, then storage it tells me that I only have 8 gb which is what I would expect.
I'm totally confused.

The storage graph shown in System Information, About this Mac window is, to put it politely, not always very accurate. You'll get more accurate size info by doing what Léonie suggested.
Remember that an Aperture library is not only the original image files but also contains the previews of the originals and the thumbnails as well as the library structure and metadata.
So the size of an Aperture library will not just be the combined size of all the original files. 43 gb for 6600 originals, assuming they are all mannaged and you have previews generated for them all is not out of the ball park.
Also keep in mind because the Aperture library is really a package of folders and files and not just one file some online backup programs have had trouble dealing with them. You should check with support for the service you are using to make sure they handle library packages like Aperture and iPhoto correctly or else when you go to restore from the cloud you may get garbage back.

One other point, while cloud backup is OK you should not rely solely on this, or any one form of backup, especially for items such as digital images.
Make sure in addition to this cloud backup you have at least one other form of backup, for the originals at least. This way even if the library is lost you can recreate from the originals.

I doubt that 6600 photos could have their originals managed (located in the library itself) if only 8 GB. Are you sure that the 8 GB is not simply the library on your internal drive, but originals are referenced and stored somewhere other than the Aperture Library?
"➞About This Mac➞More Info➞Storage" does NOT include any Aperture Library in the category "Photos".
Here's the graph for my personal machine, on which I have over 350 GB of Aperture Libraries:
I'm with Frank: perhaps the only actionable information in this graph is the amount of free space (and the name and size of the drive).
