I totally get that. I'm exactly the same!
What I'm going to do is order one online and return this one within 14 days. If I'm without an iPhone for a little while then so be it.
The online store is much better with replacements should the new one have the same problem.

Just wanted to say I'm having the same issue with the rattling. Have an iPhone 5 to compare with and the 5s definitely rattles a lot more when shaken or when vibrating on a table/desk. Very annoying.
Also checked with someone who got a 5s at the same time as me, from the same store, and they said their phone rattles too when shaken.
Haven't tried taking it to the Apple Store yet. Going to see what they say when I have time, but reading these posts doesn't make me hopeful.

I just went to the Apple Store to get a refund and was prepared to just wait for the new one I'd ordered online (still saying "dispatched: October"). But they said they could swap it out for a whole new boxed phone as I was within 14 days,.
The handset I got is a week 39 build (as opposed to the original, which was week 36 build). I'm pleased to report that there doesn't seem to be any rattle from the power button when the phone vibrates. The button is still a bit loose compared with the iPhone 5, but that's not a problem.

Just to follow-up, I went to an Apple Store last weekend to get it checked out. I brought my previous iPhone (iPhone 5) as a reference and I'm sure glad I did. When I mentioned the rattling problem on the new 5s, the tech said that "his does it too" and that it's only the "vibration motor" and that it's normal. So I showed him my 5, he shook it just like the 5s, and then agreed with me that the 5s is rattling "too much".
He exchanged the 5s for me for a new one. This new one still rattles more than the 5, but less than the previous 5s.
This replacement is week 38.
