Q: Has anyone else's Apple TV gone to crap?

I've had Apple TV for over a year - never a problem.   Downloads, music, movies, tv shows, connecting to my computer, etc. - never ever a problem.   I downloaded the new iOS a week ago and now NOTHING works.   Music won't play (1 minute a song and then it switches songs), downloads are CRAZY slow, errors galore (on everything) and, worst part, the help desk just keeps telling me to restart Apple TV.   I shouldn't have to restart Apple TV 3 times during a 1 hour show!   Apple support seems to want to say it is a problem on my end but, well, it isn't.   Anyone else struggling?

Have you done any troubleshooting to verify it isn't network related?

    Have you tried a restore?

I've been having similar issues since the update:

Movies from my iTunes library freeze or the sound cuts out in the middle of viewing.  The Apple TV just now randomly rebooted itself while watching a show on Netflix.  I've had no issues before this last update and now this happens multiple times a day.

I actually did the update  last night and I've been having issues ever since. I can't access HBO GO or pretty much anything for that matter and when I try click on anything it restarts on me. I'm a new apple TV User so I have no idea what to do at this point. Except try and reset it and that's what i'm doing right now

The only problem I seem to have had is to do with the syncing of podcasts between all my devices - which forced all my ATV (video) podcasts onto my iphone, which I then deleted, which I later found out also deleted them all from my ATV, and left a handful of my iphone (audio) podcasts on there instead! Can't find an option in settings for turning this off or on.

This is clearly a problem that has something to do with the last update.  How do we get Apple to address this?

How so, there are always going to be posts regarding issues after an update is released. If you wish to address feedback to Apple you can do so via the link.

Yes. Streaming movies from my iTunes is incredibly slow, Netflix seems to either not work or run in SD (when we should be getting SuperHD now). I've not had any crashes, but 6.0 has been a disaster for me, I'm actually using my Blu-Ray player to watch Netflix now as the AppleTV is effectively useless.

I'm experiencing a similar issue, I downloaded 6.0 before it got recalled and have since restored (to 6.0 but after the re-release) and am having issues doing pretty much anything involving external communication, airplay works fine, so wireless isn't the issue but cannot dowload movies, or previews cannot use netflicks and cannot even check for updates, the apple tv also crashes fairly randomly. The connection issue does seem to be a little intermittent though, I was able to watch netflicks briefly last night but that was the first time all week that I've been able to play any streamed content.

I started having issues with my  Apple TV 3rd gen. last night as we tried to watch Speed Kills: Jungle on the Smithsonian app. I would get about a minute in and the Apple TV would reboot. Happened several times. Tried a restart, didn't help. I was able to watch several podcasts after that so it must be selective.

Issues here too.  Apple TV3 running fine until the 6.0 update I stupidly completed before coming here to see if it was solid.  While using mirroring (video from Vimeo or Youtube) so far from a MacbookPro, everything runs fine for about 10 minutes then something goes very wrong.  The image on the TV freezes and the user on the MBP is completely logged out and we are left with the log in screen.  When you log back in to try to mirror again the ATV recognises that something wants to mirror.  The TV screen goes blank and only audio is transmitted.  Only way to fix we have seen so far is to reboot the MBP.  Not a good outcome for a Company that controls both hardware and software on both sides of the equation.

Same here - everything has been perfect until the latest upgrade 2 nights ago now I can't watch a full episode without it freezing at least 5-6 during a 45 min show.  Then it takes about an hour before I can watch another episode.  On top of that the airplay icon has completely disappeared from the iPad (no it is not in the control centre by swiping up) so I can't even mirror it on to the TV.  NOT GOOD ENOUGH APPLE!!!

If the airplay icon is not showing up then that is network issue, which may also be affecting the playback. The most common cause is from interference, which can be verified via istumbler or netstumbler

My ATVWILL NOT connect to Itunes via Homesharing...I Have tried all of the Troubleshooting Steps...I won't go into them all here. I have emailed Apple several times, with 0 Response. The only way I can stream a movie to watch on my ATV, is through Airply via my iPad and/or iPhone...All worked well, Flawlessly from day 1, until I updated my Itunes & ATV...Everything went Berserk. Has Apple acknowledged ANYTHING, to ANYONE? They REALLY NEED TO FIX THIS ISSUE.

All of my Voutube, Netflix, Airplay, Etc Works fine...the Homesharing has gne to CRAP...Literally.

(Apologies for all of the CAPS, I am just Frustrated...I have a $100 Coaster, and APPLE will not do anything...As Usual)

I Hope this gets Fixed Soon...Does ROKU Stream Itune Movies? Hmmmmmm

OK, I figured I should update as I've now fixed my issue. Turns out the problem I was having was one of Wi-Fi interference. I changed the channel on my Airport Extreme from 6 to 11 and it fixed all the issues I was having with my AppleTV. Not sure exactly why this started happening after upgrading to 6.0, maybe a coincidence?
