I'm having the same problem.  iTunes 11.1  Windows 7 64-bit installer.  At least my program works.  My coworker is trying to install on a similar setup and it is saying "Apple Application Support" is missing, or something to that affect.

I found the solution on another post from 2009.

    Close iTunes.  Then:

    1. Download and install WinRAR (or 7-Zip)

    2. Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe icon and choose "Open with WinRAR" (or 7-Zip).

    3. Once the EXE is opened in WinRAR, double-click AppleApplicationSupport.msi and when the installer window is open choose "Repair".  (In my case, it didn't even ask to repair, it just installed it.

    4. Done! You can now run iTunes normally.

Thank you for that FIVEKV, I can confirm that it works on Windows 8 64 bit, but you do not need to download winrar, on Windows 8, all the files are displayed in Windows 8 if you pick tools then Manual download of Itunes then go to :-

    C:\Users\"Your User Name"\AppData\Local\Apple\Apple Software Update

I for one am sick of trying to install Apple Software that Fails every Single time an update comes out, The auto Update Fails every time, So I need to do a manual Download, then I always get the " A required  Itunes Component is not installed "

Then I usually end up having to put my User name and password into itunes to access the store half the time, and spend ages trying to figure out how to add songs etc.

To Apple how about making some Itunes software that is user friendly, and follows logical well used methods ?

Thanks Hellrazer001, I found AppleApplicationSupport.msi in my "C:\Users\$USER\AppData\Local\Apple\Apple Software Update" folder and ran it there to try and repair my similar error.  But it fails near the end with internal error code 2502 and 2503.

I noticed that it was trying to install to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support".  I already had this directory so I renamed it to something else  (it complained about having to provide Administrator permissions before renaming) and then ran AppleApplicationSupport.msi again.  This time it worked.  So perhaps there is some permissions issue with the Apple Application Support directory on some PCs that screws up the iTunes install.  Maybe fixing that directory first would even have allowed the iTunes64Setup.exe to succeed...

Need to do the same with the AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi as well.

This has to be the most disappointing update from Apple!!!

On another PC I was getting the same error but this time copying or messing around with DLLs would not fix it.  I finally was able to install by logging in as Administrator and running iTunesSetup.exe.  I'm guessing that it's some Windows permissions issue that occurs even with UAC disabled.

    1.  Enable the Windows Administrator account by running cmd as Administrator and executing "net user administrator /active:yes", e.g. http://www.ghacks.net/2012/06/11/windows-8-enable-the-hidden-administrator-accou nt/

    2.  Logout and login as Administator.  (I also recommend setting a Windows password for that account now )

    3.  Run iTunesSetup.exe.  It should succeed now.

    4.  Hate Apple for wasting our time on this...

I have one more suggestion for you and this could be what I actually did when I was logged in as Administrator - Uninstall QuickTime and any the other "Apple ..." applications using the standard Windows uninstall option in the control panel. Then try running the iTunes installer again.   Hope this works!

Yes, I've been successful with first uninstalling the Apple applications (Quicktime, iTunes, Apple) while logged in as Administrator and then running the installers as my normal Windows user (which I've already given Administrator privileges and disabled UAC, but apparently it's not enough).  I just did this now on another PC that couldn't upgrade iCloud control panel from v2 to v3 because it encountered an error.  I couldn't even uninstall iCloud as that user because it failed with an error.

This is quite inconvenient and annoying, particularly when the Apple software upgrade tool frequently is often trying to install a new version of iTunes or iCloud.

    Apple probably says:

buy a new Mac to fix it

then you will get support for 3 weeks

    ;-)
