Q: Why doesn't the iPhone 4S have airdrop?

Unfortunately AirDrop is not supported on iPhone 4s:

Because the 4S  does not have the necessary hardware, that's why. The iPhone 4 doesn't have Siri and the 4S does, because of the same reason.

It's called progress, get it?

The hardware on the iPhones cannot be upgraded.

apple, i would love to know what's the official reason for not having airdrop on my 4s, other then the obvious answer ("because we want you to buy the new version") , i dont feel that i have an old product.

Airdrop needs a special Wifi chip to create an AdHoc network. The 4S does not have it. That's why. So I guess I know what i'm talking about.

Progress in the sense that hardware becomes obsolete and it is not backwards compatible. That has been the story in the electronics world ever since Edison invented the gramophone in 1877.
