I have a friend I am trying to help get answers for... He lives in Tennessee and works in Alaska, two weeks on and two weeks off. He uses GCI in Alaska, and I believe Verizon in the lower 48. He's thinking of upgrading to the 5s, and would like to use just one phone, instead of 2 that he curently manages. It appears the AT&T version does work on GCI's network, based on Apple's LTE compatibility site.

My question, can he just switch out the SIM cards in a compatible phone every two weeks, without disconnecting the service for either carrier, and use the same phone on which ever network he is on? I am ssuming he could use the call forwarding feature to forward calls from one carrier's phone number to the other, depending on where he is?

The phone will have to be SIM unlocked in order to swap SIMS. I believe the Verizon iPhone comes with the SIM unlocked out of the box.

The service will not "disconnect" if you swap SIMs as long as the user continues to pay the phone bill(s).
