There's a number of threads dealing with this -
but basically the security update and Quicktime 7.1 update has messed things up:
There seem to be different things that work for different people; however Apple Remote Desktop 2.2 and Adobe Creative Suite 2 seem to be the main culprits.

Try using Disk Utility to repair your startup disk (hard drive) as shown in Dr.Smokes Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption.
Also Repair Permissions as shown in the link.
