audiobooks should be in the same place, if they are properly tagged as audiobooks.
If they are not, go under genre and look for spoken word.

Thanks for the reply. As I said it is the first audio book I have purchased so not sure what the normal situation is. I have done what you suggested and can't find the book anywhere on the ipad, even searching in the finder for the whole ipad is not helping. It's like it is not there at all. I assumed it would download automatically like music or books. I think either I am being thick or there is some kind of error with iTunes or ios7 . I think I will try buy another audio book and see if it works.....

Ok I have managed to purchase another audio book and it is now showing in my music app. No sign of the first one though. Guess I need to contact apple for that...

Same problem. After 30 min figured it out.
hooked up iphone 5 to imac
downloaded audible.com app and signed in/registered
went to books tab on iphone while still plugged in
manual dowload selected audiobooks on syn audiobooks.
sync and dowload onto iphone
turned off iphone
audiobooks were under more in music icon on iphone.
Rather long and silly-but worked.Just had to now redownload all my music as it erased music.
Seems you can not manually sync music, and audio books-its one or the other. When you click on,the other goes off.Just had to do it sequentially. What made apple a great company seems to be slowly eroding.
