Oct 12, 2013 10:54 PM in response to Dghwby Perspicacious,I developed a workable "fix." See my post at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5441510. This somewhat lengthy for those less aware.
This problem appears to be due to iCloud servers and not individual devices. Apple has to do a patch to iCloud server code. In the meantime, I was able to work around the problem without actually deleting ALL the calendars as some of the above suggestions might imply. A few others have suggested other options such as exporting and re-importing the calendars from the desktop (see post by aguest) I did not try these, but you might try that if my suggestions do not work. See post above.

Oct 13, 2013 6:07 AM in response to Reini-Wienby McMilon,Well I don't konw if this will help, but I tryed to fix it in a slightly different way. It seems somehow easyer for me (every steps has been done on a Mac Book Pro):
1° Export your calendar (it will save your calendar and you need it for the next steps)
2° Rename this calendar (like temp, test, or whatever)
3° Create a new calendar with the name and the color of the calendar on which you originaly had the problem
4° Import your calendar (point 1°)
5° Check for eventual missing events (it should be the case, but we never know)
6° Delete the old calendar you renamed in step 2°
I orginily tried to go the way Perspicacious explained but it didn't worked for me, so that deleting the calendar originaly "infected" seemed the only way to correct the bug. Also I gone thourgh thos steps by previously deactivated all iCloud connection on my devices (iPhone, iPad and Mac Book Pro) but I don't really think it make any difference.
Hope this will help but I'm sure it make sense as it took me not more that five minutes to do it.

Oct 14, 2013 5:24 AM in response to McMilonby GravityLightspeed, that worked for me McMilon, thanks! glad to have things back to normal.
This small thing made me think about Apple... I explained to friends what happened and they said that such a thing would never happen on Android as they don't have the same amount of control over the cloud as Apple...

That's nonsense, particularly coming from Android users. Most of them are firmly locked in to Google services from top to bottom and Google has just as much control over that stack with their own apps and services as Apple does with built-in OS X/iOS apps and iCloud.

Oct 14, 2013 6:32 PM in response to Reini-Wienby jgreene1,I set the color of my work calendar to green from my iMac. It has changed to purple throughout all my devices recently (iphone, ipad, imac). I can change it back to green using the icloud "work" calender via "get info" and as soon as I change it, it changes back to purple. All the other calendars are staying constant. Maddening!

Oct 16, 2013 8:45 AM in response to Reini-Wienby quitit,I, too, had this problem. This is how I fixed it:
Select the calendar that changes color and export the calendar to desktop.
Delete the calendar from ical.
Create new calendar in Ical and name it to your specifications
Go to desk top and choose the calendar you moved and choose to open with Ical. This should import it back to ical.
Go into settings in ical and choose that calendar as your default calendar.
It sounds complicated but is actually easy to do. I hope this helps

Oct 16, 2013 2:27 PM in response to Reini-Wienby Haasome,Quitit --- your method worked for me with one caveat. I have 2 desktop computers, an iPhone, iPad, iPad mini, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro. Following your suggestion above on a single desktop computer successfully reset ical on every device --AS LONG AS-- I chose a standard set of colors. If I chose a custom color (like black) the custom color would not transfer to the hand held devices. All said, I'll call it a victory. I had to send out new invitations to shared calendars and had to reset colors individually on the shared devices.
Thanks
