    HI

    i having problem :

location servics enables (nothing in list)(no app in list which accesses location),

    icloud "find my mac" enabled,

and WHEN I TRY TO FIND MY MACBOOK ON icloud or "find my iphone app" on iphone.

    it says:

    "ONLINE,LOCATION UNAVAILABLE"

and one more thing, when i set "time & date" to "set automactic according to my location"

then the result is "unable to determine location at this time."

CAN ANYONE TELL, HOW TO MAKE LOCATIONS ACCESSED? IS IT WIFI SETTINGS? OR IS IT OTHER SETTINGS BEYOND MAC .???

I was having the exact same probem. When running Find My iPhone it finds my iPhone and iPad just fine. It lists my MacBook Pro but says "no location available." Even though my MacBook Pro is powered up, online and doesn't matter if Wi-Fi is on or off.

In going through different setting on my MBP, I noticed a warning sign next to Find My Mac in System Settings >> iCloud that said my MacBook Pro cannot be located because I have Wake for Network Access deselected. Sure enough once I went into System Preferences >> Energy Saver and ticked the box next to Wake for network access and then refreshed my browser with iCloud - Find My iPhone, my MacBook Pro showed up immediately as online and location acquired.

I tested this with my Wi-Fi turned on and then Wi-Fi off with ethernet connection only, and both worked the same except with ethernet you'll get a cached result. To get a current result, Wi-Fi must be enabled. The problem was not having Wake for network access enabled.

Message was edited by: AngelaLinCA - noticed through further testing that Wi-Fi must be enabled for current data.

Hi , thanks for replying . I have as you suggested , check my energy settings >wake for network access and I have seen that it already marked ticked. And one more thing that the wake for network access option is under "power adapter" menu , not in the "battery menu". So you try if you were using MBP on power adapter while you were checking location services via iCloud/find my iPhone .

Secondary, I noticed one more thing that when I try toggle the iCloud settings of location services (find my iPhone), I can see my mac book located BUT for little time . After some time it again says offline or locstion not avaiable .

So it's kind if refreshing the respective settings for Internet use ..

Maybe you can check if it happenes too. Or you have any other solution.

    Hi div,

Yes, you are correct. I was (usually do) using my MBP on power adapter, not battery. I apologize that I have no other useful input, but did want to clarify the power adapter setting.

Hopefully you have resolved your issue by now!

    Hi Angela ,

I have yet found any Perfect solution , I must say but I can say that the problem is multi-caused byany issues:

It may sometime caused due to internet provider,

It may be due to the reason how the ISP shows it location .

It may also be how apple tracks location on WIFI(home broadband) specifically ,

It may also be weather MacBook is refreshing it's location services or other ones .

So , many of or one o issue might be causing ...

Well apple should be addressed with it as no one want that his/her MSB get lost and plus unable to find it on find my App.

    Thanks
