Q: My Photo Stream is empty with iCloud Control Panel 3.0

I've got iPhone, iPad and PC (Windows 8) in sync with iCloud Control Panel 2 properly before.

Days ago I upgraded to iCloud Control Panel 3.0, Other shared photo streams and iCloud bookmarks are sync perfectly but "My Photo Stream" is not sync on PC anymore. I've cleaned up iCloud Photos sync folder completely and signed in to the iCloud Control Panel again, but "My Photo Stream" is just not sync.

Any idea?

I have also been having the same problems for the last 2 weeks, getting extremely irritating! I rely on my photostream quite heavily at work with multiple devices out in the field then 2 weeks ago stream stopped. I have also tried all above suggestions with no luck. I found version 2.1.2 here http://download.canadiancontent.net/iCloud_Control_Panel.html going to install and give that a go.

Thank you, however the 2.1 version worked for just a while. After rebooting your pc, it will stop working again, I figured it has something to do with the applephotostreamdownloader.exe file coz when I take a lookat task manager processes its no longer running. How can I get that to keep running?

UPDATE.  Hello everyone,  I have been aware of this issue since I got my iPhone 5s on Sept 28--which is when I checked my Photostream.  I believe all of the above suggestions have been tried but not worked (closing everything down, restarting, rebooting, uninstalling programs, reinstalling, etc.) .  I have been in almost daily contact with Apple level 2 techs for 2 weeks.  My computer is now in TS (troubleshooting mode) for the engineers who design the iCloud Panel for Windows.  My tech found this Community Thread and is sending it to the engineers...so keep the comments coming!  It is terribly frustrating and time consuming... I'm guessing I have spent at least 30 hours on this issue (or it just seems that way).  At one time it was thought that the problem was with Bonjour, the program (as I understand it), that works with the iCloud panel.  A different number of photos populate Photostream each time I close the iCloud 3.0 panel, shut my PC, iPad and iPhone, restart everything, and sign into the iCloud.  The number ranges from 0 to 130...in random order, but generally, nothing new....more than 100 pics are still missing, although I am told that Apple can see that I have well over 200 on their server.....(I had 1000 when this all began....). Fortunately, I have all my photos backed up in other folders.  SO, the bottom line is, it appears that the iCloud Panel 3.0 for Windows 7 (and I see from the thread, Windows 8), is the likely culprit.  I am told that the engineers have the capacity to work with Microsoft on this issue...how long it will take to fix is anyone's guess....until then, my computer remains in the TS mode for them to track what is going on with my computer & Photostream.  I hope this post adds some useful information. I never had issues populating with the earlier iCloud panel.  Shared streams populate fine on the PC.  And my iPhone and iPad Photostreams work perfectly with one another.  GRRRRRR!

Yes, you are right, it worked for a while then stopped. Only pulled through 20 of about 300 pics. After checking processes i can also confirm that applephotostreamdownloader.exe is not running..... only applephotostreams.exe not sure how to get it to 'keep running' nor should we have to!

Thanks for the info TCB lets hope apple can sort this out soon, I have lost track of the hours wasted trying to rectify this issue and it is highly frustrating!!!!!!

Thanks for the update TCB, good to know Apple is aware of the problem!

Another symptom I'm having is that Uploads no longer work in CP 3.0.  I've tried the "Add Photos" button and I've tried copying photos directly to the "iCloud Photos\Uploads" folder but they just sit there in the folder and are never uploaded to My Photostream.  As already noted uploads/additions to Shared Streams work correctly.

I have the same problem as you all, After few hours of deep analyze(regmon) I found out a difference between 2nd and glitchy 3rd iCloud control applets, yes guys, I have old version on win7x86 - thank u god it still works, and new 3rd on win8x64, it's seems to me that the root of the evil is in desktop.ini file which is created BY iCloudCP 3.0 in "photo stream" folder right after you signed in using appleID and chose path for photostream,  and few seconds later a message pops up in the tray panel which says something like "one file have not been synced, this file type is not supported" y'all know exactly which message I'm talking about, so photostreams stuck then, and some how only "shared" folder becomes synced, removing desktop.ini doesn't help at all, cuz file is being recreated again. If apple debuggers/develepoers are visiting this thread I can share my regmon log file

I forwarded your complete message to my Level 2 Tech, Chris who will review it (and I believe) forward your thread.  he has also found new reports of our problem in old threads...apparently, people are making new comments on old threads rather than new threads....thanks???glad to know I'm not alone in this....GRRR

Just to confirm that this is happening to other people - Me too!

Photostream worked fine for me on Windows 8 until I upgraded to ICloud 3.0 and then it stopped syncing photos.

By stopping, starting, clearing the folder, reinstalling etc. I can get it to work for a short while but it only does a few photos then stops.

This fits with the suggestion that desktop.ini issue, but _something_ is clearly wrong.

Would love to hear if ther is and progress on a solution.

    Thanks

    mrb

I forwarded mrblurgle's message to my Apple Level 2 tech and asked him to forward it to engineers.  as of yesterday, still no word from engineers.  he's gonna call me today.

I was having this issue as well. I just tried the following steps, and everything is working again.

I simply signed out of iCloud on Windows, then I signed back in. It created a brand new folder in my pictures directory called "iCloud Photos." Within this folder is the familiar "My Photo Stream, Shared, ad Upload" folders.

All my pictures proceeded to download from the cloud.

    Running iCloud 3.0 on Windows 7 64-bit

iPhone 5 and iPad 3 with iOS 7.0.2.

    I hope this helped!

when i signin to my account using the od 2.1.2 version and hit APPLY, photostreamdownload.exe shows up in taskmanager and starts downloading somthing it uses full speed of my 4mb connection and after some mins it downloads only couple of pics and keeps on downloading somthing which never shows up in photostream folder, and after sometime it would stop downloading but the exe remains in taskmanager like its still looking for somthing.

i have tried everything formating windows, reinstalling etc etc everything. if i change the photostream folder it will download about 100 random pics mostly old ones and then stops.and on next day after 24hrs it will download again.

The engineer who is supposed to be working on this issue is NOT getting back to my Level 2 person.  Today he said he is escalating it and contacting other people at Apple.  I asked him to have his mgr contact the engineer's mgr....this has now been going on for 3 weeks in total, bit 2 weeks since we answered all of the engineer's questions and having my computer in the TS (troubleshooting) mode....GRRRRRR. Very Frustrating!!!

Guarantee no one will ever get back to you! I have the same problem spoke to a tech person who told me they will get back to me after hours of working with him, still waiting 3 months later.
