    I own an iphone 5 and Galaxy S4 and find it so funny when people sit here insulting others because of their choice in phones! The world would be such a boring place if we all bought the same things and loved the exact same thing as the guy next to us. I have the ability to love my iphone for what it offers me and love android devices for way they offer. To each their own I say! And for everyone who bashes someone for liking apple or droid think of how much longer you'd have to wait for your precious new phone if everyone else on the planet wanted the same one at the same time!

    @kerryfromperrysburg......I couldn't agree more.  Good post.  Stop the bashing people.  Are you that insecure about the decision you made to pick either an iPhone or an Android that you have to bash others who didn't make the same decision?  Be happy you can even afford a phone.

    I found the solution to this nonsense!! At least this worked for me, and I didn't need my old iphone to turn off iMessage to do it!

    - I reset my Apple ID password to unregister/unlink my phone number from iMessage, FaceTime, etc.

    - I called my service provider (AT&T) and gave them the SIM number for my new phone. They told me that it was never registered to my new phone, it was still linked to my iphone. The rep reactivated my SIM card and registered it to my new phone, and Voilà! Days of scouring the internet for a solution, OVER. I immediately started receving texts (though any old ones sent I think are lost for good).

     

    Hope this helps someone!

    I have both an Android and an iPhone.  I agree they both have their advantages and disadvantages. 

     

    Because it's a forum, I will share my three cents:

    1. This is not a bug or glitch or any such thing.  It was programmed this way. It works as coded.

    Before anyone gets their pompoms out or panties bunched..

    2. It Is a terrible user experience. 

    • It appears to be something discovered, en masse, recently; and, is giving people (both iPhone and Android users) headaches.
    • A good user experience doesn't require me telling  my friends to change their phone settings.  That's just odd.

     

    Really... I don't care if you have an apple or a robot on your Underoos.  A bad user experience doesn't make it a bug. Working as programmed doesn't make it right.   Tying a balloon to a lawn chair could allow you to fly; but, is it really the best way to get from a to b?  Hint: the beverage service is terrible.

     

    My suggestions:

    • Places which sell Android devices should train their sales and support teams on this issue.  If I can obtain an solution from any representative I ask, I'm less likely to blow a gasket.  "Oh.  Okay.  Cool."  then  *text, text, text*
    • Apple should make it clear--in their faqs--this is a possible issue (for ANY iPhone user).   There is an attempt at that (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5185), which is not very informative.  Here's a User Story:  "I am an iPhone user. I cannot get my texts through to my friend. I want to help both my friend and myself."
    • Samsung has done just that (see link above).  If they haven't already, other device manufacturers should do the same.

     

    If you've read this far...  I applaud you for maintaining focus through my verbose-ness.

    Apple actually just fixed this issue not to long ago to where they can remove your phone number from imessage for you all you have to do is call and explain your issue i switch between andriod and iphone from time to time and have had to do it, they send you a text with a number you give it to them and your all set.

    iZayk, that makes too much sense.    Complaining about Apple or the issue in some form or another seems like so much better use of our time (apparently).

     

    I told my one Android friend worth keeping to call Apple.. he did, its been fixed.    He didn't even have to get on here and speculate or complain or fuss about it.     Good thing I helped him though, he's been too busy trying to figure out how to kill built-in bloatware apps that keep restarting themselves...  talk about a poor user experience.

     

    P.S. Gnome underoos... of course.

    not to change the subject but rooting,titanium backup and xda forums are a huge help there as well as custom roms if your wanna go that far

    You can go to settings and then general tab on the iphone scroll to bottom and tap Reset then reset network settings and it should fix it .

    Im posting on this first thread so everyone will not have to read 50 million threads for the answer . On your old iphone go to settings - general - scroll to bottom and choose Reset then find Reset network settings and woolah !

    Ok me and my friend had this problem

     

    He changed his iPhone to an android.

     

    He also has an ipad so me resolve was for him to go using his ipad go to settings ----> messages -----> send &amp; Receive then deselect his mobile number off that list

     

    Because he had his iPhone set up with his ipad my iPhone thought its best to iMessage him. Anyway this worked for me there was no password change to messing about

    I actually called Apple Support and they prompted me to reset my Apple ID that was under iMessage.

     

    That helped me to remove my cell phone number that was under iMessage services.
