Q: MacBook Air iSight camera stopped working after latest firmware update

The camera with Skype problem fixed with the recent supplementary update to 10.8.5 - download and install it. You should also run the 10.8.5 combo updater again.

if the camera still doesn't show in the system profiler after doing this reset you need to take the mac to apple store or service provider to have it looked at for repair. the following site tells how to find these near you:

if the camera doesn't show up in the hardware section of system profiler, reinstalling the mac OS won't resolve the issue since that indicates a hardware issue more than likely.

After 5 hours of intense research and struggles, I was going through the updates that my Macbook had undergone & I noticed that "OS X v10.8.5 Supplemental Update". So, I tried re installing it & camera worked just fine!

Mac OSX 10.8.5

I'm having the exact same issue. Mid-2012 MBA. None of the solutions above work for me.

I have the same exact issue, after the supplmental update my camera is not being detected at all. Took it to the store, after a diagnostic test it showed that it wasn't a hardware issue because the camera was showing up. However, for some reason it still wasn't being detected. They told me to send my laptop to the repair center, but I can't afford to not have my computer at this time.

Im having the same issue with my MBP mid 2012 I tried resetting the SMU and I thought updating to mavericks may have fixed the issue but it didn't and after going to the apple store they told me it would cost to have it sent to get repaired and i'm at UNI and therefore money is tight and I need my Macbook to complete assignments.

I'm experianceing the same thing, after the Mavericks update. It says I don't have a camara installed on a Mid 2012 Macbook air. Any new help?
