Auto Complete appends instead of replace

This is really an iOS question dor any iDevice....


1. Auto Complete is appending text and creating incorrect text:


I type: name@


Auto Complete shows my correct full address:


I get my email appended to what I've just typed: - plus a space after .com


Shouldn't Auto Complete replace the type it's responding to and not append to it?


2. Is there a way to use your virtual keyboard to accept Auto Complete's text correctly without appending?

If I use Space Bar, Auto Complete sometimes overwrites and doesn't append, but I'll always get a space after my email that I then press delete. Seems like there should be a more intuitive functional method for such a simple feature.


Is there?
