Q: iOS 7 forgot restrictions passcode

I have updated to iOS 7.  My location services have been disabled and findmyiphone is turned on but with restricted access.  However I have forgotten my restrictions pass code so am unable to turn on location services.  If I try and restore iphone via iTunes it tells me I have to turn off findmyiphone first.  But I can't do this because I have forgotten this restriction passcode.

Totally stuck now.  Seems there is no way to reset my phone.

Any ideas?

Interesting solution. I have the same situation with the password problem after the IOS7 update. I also have another problem that may just mess me up where I cannot recover anything. My wife updated to IOS7, but there are no backups... The worst situation is that it had never been connected to a computer before, so I get the error when I try to connect to a newly installed Itunes.

"iTunes could not connect to the iPad because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPad before it can be used with iTunes."

I think that is the death knell of any data that I may want to recover...

Anyone have any ideas on how to get around this?

Oops! I meant to reply to gilsonmelo for help with my wife's IPAD. Is there a way to do this with an IPAD that has never been backed up or connected to Itunes?

I have the same problem and I'm 100% sure that I have not forgotten my password. It works on my phone but not on the iPad 4.

    @Mathias Thulmann

You can try creating a new backup and doing the procedures. In case that doesn't work you will have to reset it to the original configurations.

Not sure if that will work but give it a try. Hope this helps you.

I didn't read all the replies so I don't know if this has been solved or not.

You can just set the iPhone into Recovery and restore from there; iTunes won't ask for any password, be them the Restrictions passcode, the general passcode and/or the Activation Lock (Apple ID) password.

Activation Lock will still be active, it'll just not be required to do the Restore by iTunes — Activation Lock sort of resides on the activation servers not so much in the phone itself.

You can also go the iCloud route and just remotely restore the phone from icloud.com/find, as long a it's not been jailbroken it should go normal.

Don't restore a backup since they reset Restrictions settings too. I once restored an old iPhone for a friend but it had all sorts of locks on it and it wouldn't complete the restore so I interrupted the restore by just unplugging the cable ruining its to give complete information to iTunes and just then I did complete the restore — this iPhone also didn't have a working power button so entering DFU wasn't an option.

Restarting the phone can be achieved under the Accessibility settings.

    This didn't work for me

And when I just went back into ibackupbot it shows my device twice with duplicate information?  Doh, I feel like I proably didn't have any business being in there, but thought I'd give it a shot anyways...Any suggestions?

One thig to add... (this worked great btw). I tried for hours to get my iPad to restore with the edited information, but it would not transfer my new info. I finally tried this and it worked! -- After you edit the info in iBackupBot, you save it in the upper left corner, then you hit "restore" from this software, NOT in iTunes. You do need you iPad/ iPhone connected to iTunes, but the way it transfers is from the software. Once it rebooted my restrictios page was back to "0" attempts and i entered "1234" and was back in business!  Thanks for this tip!!
