Also try going to Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI .app output tab see if the Samsung is selcted there, if it shown and not selected, select it. Also in system preferences sound output make sure the mute box is not checked as well as the volume is up, check these in the Audio MIDI as well

Ok, so you checked all that and no joy.

You do not have which version of 10.8.x that you are using, there have been some updates that have addressed this issue, so you may want to run software update and make sure that it's all up to date.

A couple other things to try, with it all connectedand something player on the computer, try switching the TV input to TV, let it sit there for a couple of seconds, then try switching back to the HDMI input that your uasing for the MBP, see if it syncs (I've had this weird thing happen on 1 of mine)

You can also try a pram reset:

Power off the MBP, power back up holding the following keys

    OPTION+COMMAND+P+R

contiue to hold these keys till you hear the start chime 2 times then release, reboot.

There have also been some issues that I've read regarding the rocketfish adapters not working right as well. (Don't if this applies to you)

Give these a try and post back.
